I accidentally fell asleep for 4 hours after daring to briefly sit on my bed. :o:

Been there, done that :o:

Are there any nice cafes in central Cambridge that are slightly more upmarket (for lack of a better word, I'm sure you know what I mean) than Nero/Starbucks?

There's a rather nice one up past Caius, but that might have been already mentioned. Can't remember what it's called.

Are you serious?! I swear I have no idea who you are, sorry :o: He did go to the dean though, their house has been fined £500, due tomorrow morning. Was talking to JCR people, they said don't pay it, speak to the JCR president and appeal. The only damage was a few spilt drinks, so I can understand them having to pay for the carpet shampoo, but not £500!

That's insane. All this for just a loud party? Good god. Get them in touch with CUSU, that isn't fair. This was an Irish guy? I did meet an Irish guy that was very into folk song at the Fresher's Fair. Can't remember name or college though, but he definitely had a name. I'm thinking "duffle coat", but that probably wasn't it. Something that sounds similar anyway.

And Craggy does have a noticeable accent, but I wouldn't have guessed it as SA if I didn't know. Or at least it doesn't sound like the stereotypical SA accent.

I am so relieved that Week 5 is over :o: I'm resisting the temptation to go wild and eat lots of expensive food and buy lots of books, but that would be a bad idea. I desperately need to do masses of work this weekend, as the one after is completely out... which means that ideally I should do a Vector Calculus paper, 2 Materials papers, 2 Thermofluids papers and a Linear Systems paper before Friday. It's theoretically possible...

I do need to do them though, as I have 6 supervisions, a presentation and a report to do in Week 8...

Had a fire alarm this morning, which was very embarrassing, as I had a friend staying over :o: Got teased about that. Ah well.

If you mean Michaelhouse opposite to Caius, then yes.

Ouch. Who was the friend? And don't they have fire alarms where they come from :huff:

Thanks guys. Yeh I'd say this is how I think of it too. Except the 'sadly' bit :hmmm:

Why? I think South African's quite a cool accent.

I don't, though :p: I think the English accent is cool :yep: I'm sure we'd both hold opposite views were we to grow up in eachothers' countries...

Nah, there's one just up the road from there. They do nice moussaka.

I was teased about her rather than the fire alarm :o:

I only discovered that one of my housemates was gay in first year when the fire alarm brought him and his male partner out, still cuddling :p:

Probably :s-smilie:

To be fair, I don't think closing at 5 (which is when I think they do) is an arbitrary time for a lunch/cafe sort of place that gets used as a club at night

I suppose. I guess we got lucky all those times we were able to eat there at 6-ish...
Craghyrax
Woken up by a fire alarm at 7:30 :pinch: then woken up on two seperate occasions later in the morning by the insurance company

We've yet to have a fire alarm this term, which is weird. Can't say I want one, mind.

I know, it's ridiculous. It's Glutamic Acid's house too, so he'll have to pay too unless they can get the fine cancelled. Yeah it's an Irish guy, don't think he's into folk song, and his name sounds nothing like "duffle coat"...there is more than one Irish person in Cambridge :p:

Facebook..?
:yep: Yep. Facebook. Group has guinness as its profile pic...

Ok, yeah I have joined it. Now I just need to get involved...

Any ideas why my laptop wont turn off when I tell it to? It annoys me coming back after 2 hours to find that it didn't turn off, or is still in the process of turning off
I've done about 85-90% of my plan. I'll look at it again on Sunday evening when it's due, just to add the final bits and make sure it's all up to scratch. This supervision essay is definitely not going to get looked at today, as at the moment, I can barely keep my eyes open - I need to get to bed. Then I've got jitsu and What's Wrong With Angry this evening! (Although I noticed TCS didn't bother to review it..?)

Either some program that's running isn't quitting properly, or it's stuck installing updates?
