Lol. I kind of like the Garden Gate.

It makes you realise Peterhouse may be the smallest college, but it compensates in other ways.

I think I've missed brunch now. Toastie time

I ran out of coffee and had to grind some. Which would be nice if I put the right amount of coffee in :frown:
Think I'm going to gym to clear my head and get into work mode :dumbells:

You haven't, 11.15-1.30 I think. Toastie's probably better than the watery scrambled egg though.

You have 15 minutes.

I've made a note of the Hall times in my Outlook :yep:

My bad, I tend to degrade any social event to music arguments. :p:

No problem, especially if said links you promised are actually any good. :ninja:

But why does Peterhouse make it so bloody difficult to escape at 4 in the morning? :p:

I still think we should've jumped the gate. :yep:

Right, I've missed swimming but if I'm quick I can get lunch on my way to badminton now.

Not any more I don't  I really ought to make a note too, but I'm fairly relaxed about these things. If anything, I'm not so keen on the mealtimes I've been having here, because they all seem so early. 12 and 6pm is just strange for me. And if I miss foods in hall I normally have cheese and bread in my room.

And the deceptively never-as-amazing-as-it-would-be-at-home bacon. I really really really wanted beans and bacon yesterday. Habas... broad beans? Yesss. That would have been amazing. It still would be, really. I really want to organise an incredibly unhealthy spanish breakfast next term like some sort of big breakfast gathering. Large amounts of the thick chocolate, that fried (problematic here) bread with sugar and cinnamon and some sort of wine, magdalenas, pitufos, galletas maría, sobaos, valencianas... Bollycao. Maybe not all at once. I know most of these things have equivalents over here, but still... Hm.

No, but we came to a point where he said the road's the other side of this wall/gate, or we could walk round for 10 minutes. Unfortunately no one else was with my suggestion of just climbing said wall. :sadnod:

This Cat Is a Landmine by 65daysofstatic - Greatest intensity, build-up, crescendo, emotion, whatever, in any music ever written

Them Crooked Vultures album, will be released on Tuesday, streaming on Youtube. To be honest this could have been better, ridiculously cool supergroup of Josh Homme (Kyuss, QOTSA), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), and JOHN PAUL JONES (Led Zeppelin), but it mostly just sounds like another Queens of the Stone Age album. Ho hum.

Traynor by Dinosaur Pile-Up - Don't think I actually even mentioned these guys last night. Leeds rock. Should be huge.

Biffy Clyro, amazing Scottish band that have been making fantastic music for years and finally got a hugely successful album The Puzzle last year/the year before. Can't remember if it was you or someone else who said they hadn't heard of them. Playing Who's Got A Match or covering Umbrella.

And the best til last, Reuben. Alternative rock band from Surrey, released 3 albums, had huge dedicated fan base, loved what they did, loved their fans, great guys, toured with Billy Talent and Sum41, never quite made it. Broke up last year, I was heartbroken. Difficult to recommend a single track, they have pop-rock, metal, screaming, and an amazing christmas single. Some of the songs just Rock. Also recently released a compilation of all their unreleased tracks with this single, which is clearly the coolest thing any band has ever done for their fans. Ever.

Consider yourself educated

Yummy  Especially the churros... I've never found anything like them here :frown: You can get the thick chocolate in Savino's though. We keep intending to organise linguist tea like we had last year and haven't gotten round to it... It was like a little weekly tea party in somebody's room. Do you think the other first year linguists would be up for it? The linguists in our year all get on really well but Dr W said that we're quite exceptional in that...

Hmm... I think if we did, it would almost certainly have to be next term, given the proximity of our Week 7 shindig...

Of course  It would also depend on if first years were willing to come 'all the way' to Barnwell or Blantyre - last year it was do-able because a lot of the second year linguists were in East Court. Anyway, we'll see. We're not very good at organising - too many essays!

Man, that was a gym session of note :sigh: I can't remember last time I worked that hard! Heart rate over 175 for the full 40mins, and I'm drowned in sweat :o: But boy did it feel good - I've been out of it for too long! Unfortunately somebody left their cold behind last night when they visited, and now I feel really awful! And I have a pile of work :argh:

10mins? ukebert's memory must be pretty poor. It takes less than 5mins to get from one end of college to the other, and 20 seconds - at most 30 - to get from the gate he would have pointed out in that context to the card operated Garden Gate around the corner

I passed you on Tennis Court road when you must have been in a rush to get to your badminton. I was headed for Fenners in the opposite direction. I waved and said hi but you didn't notice.

Adapted by the same guy who did Coram Boy and His Dark Materials? It'll be absolutely fantastic.

I didn't really like Nation enough to want to watch a film on it. It was an ok read, but its not Discworld

ukebert: turns out I did have the Discworld Companion on my shelf after all

Music shizzle...

Marry me?

Seriously though, it's rather weird to see someone mention some of my favourite bands. Glad to see another 65dos and Reuben fan. You like much post-rock stuff? I'm seeing Porcupine Tree next month. :woo:

When I was little I always used to forget which one out of McLusky and Reuben were good and which were *****. McLusky are the good ones, although Reuben aren't as disappointing as I remember them being.

Hahaha, this is amazing. I think the music thing last night started because I mentioned repping this post for having so many of my favourite bands in it.
