Since the Clare swap date has been changed, I'm now going. Will you be there?

Just been rejected, I think. And I'm not talking about scholarships or postgrad applications.

I think we ought to do a Kambar meet next term. Its the only club I think I might put up with for longer than an hour.

I would not be against this, although only provisionally; if next term is anything like this term, I'll be lucky to go clubbing once a fortnight :/

Off-topic, do any girls here know where to get good wool tights? I know I sound like some-one's gran, but they're a winter staple. I've already tried M&S without success!
Craghyrax
That would please anyone!

Indeed, and I just finished said example sheet leaving me only 1 day behind schedule.

Thanks for the offer, & sorry to be all anti-social, but I really don't *do* Cindies :o: It's Revs on Tues or Kambar for me...

Fair enough.

I've never been before so would almost certainly be up for that.

Right - off to bed since my lack of organisation has meant that I now have to attend a 9am class tomorrow.

Thanks. It's just totally not what I needed right now...

Re: Kambar, I think I would be up for that as well. Haven't been there so far but have heard a few good things.

:console: I know from experience that right now it won't help and you won't believe it, but I promise you that you will feel better with time, and maybe even be better for it.

I'm looking for those too! No help to you but yes...

How did your translations go? I'm feeling that pain as well. Oral presentation to write and some Freud to read before sleep (?) and an 8:30am supervision. That's my little bit of woe-is-me for the night.

:hugs: ... Kambar: Been once, music was better than the typical bar. Tequila was involved though so don't quote me on that.

Yeh, its the music that appeals.

Next Thursday? I will be there, but that's because my friend's having a birthday formal on that date.

I'll try to come to Downing for the reverse swap though. Did you play much ultimate before you came?

Ah - not nice. Commiserations :console:

Um, Primark? I think my friend gets hers from there. I looked for weeks before Primark opened and eventually gave up and bought leggings instead. Should really investigate the Primark though, as it's about a minute from my house.

See, there are people who like going out here. :yep:

Whilst I on the other hand, now have work to do. :frown:

I took your advice on the double vodka and mixer and have had a very good night with just spending £40, although it would have been better for them to tell me so I could get pre-drinks in...

Yes some people go out... but they are few and far between, especially for medics
munro90
yep- i find people at cambridge who are unable to understand such a simple thing very irritating! Judging by emails of gratitude received so do many others! :p:

Yeah to be fair, thanks for that. It saves me receiving loads of emails from people who are supposedly trying subscribe to the email...

rep coming your way...

Personally I'm not averse to saturated fat, prima facie, it seems evolutionarily suspect that saturated fat would be lethal: unless our bodies are trying to kill us by pumping palmitic acid into the bloodstream whenever we eat sugar and there's a plausible body of literature suggesting that for most of our evolutionary history we subsisted largely on animal products.
While I quite like the evolutionary argument it is possible that there was some advantage gained that outweighed heart disease as an evolutionary factor. If you tend to die young after an active life the chance of a stroke is quite low.

The "largely on animal products" claim seems debateable (http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/71/3/665, http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/119051868/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0*), though I don't know much about the subject. (It's probably worth noting however that many of the plant based diets are high in fat and low in carbohydrate e.g., the !Kung.)

But in any case, it's plausible enough to eat a low carbohydrate, low saturated fat diet: essentially low carbohydrate Mediterranean (and everybody loves the Mediterranean diet!), with the fat coming from olive oil, rapeseed oil or high oleic sunflower oil and with enough fish to balance out the resultant omega 6. Limiting yourself to veg and fruit, carb intake is going to be healthily low pretty inevitably.
As far as I can tell, the actual Mediterranean diet seems to be meat if you're rich and bread if you're poor, though it now seems to have transformed into McDonald's (if France is anything to go by). I see what you mean though.

*I haven't read the second link yet, but I need to sleep.

I get mine from Primark...they're not great but they're cheap. And if I'm wearing them with boots, I usually wear leggings...warmer!

Off-topic, you know how when you were a kid and had a midnight-snack at a sleepover, and it was the most exciting thing in the world, even if you ate it at 11 and it was just a Cheesestring or a Peperami? It's not the same when your midnight-snack is a cheese and pickle sandwich, eaten at 3, to give you the energy to do two more essays tonight...

I hate my time management skills.

I'm doing and thinking the exact same thing haha. Eating snack foods purely for their sugar content seems like such a betrayal of our childhood.

I want crisps :frown: I get cravings for savoury foods much more often than sweet foods. Salty popcorn would go down a treat right now...What time does Sainsburys open?!

Isn't Sainsburys 24 hour? Is that just wishful thinking?

Sleep for me now. Good luck with the rest of your night/morning and I hope you catch up on the sleep soon!

(not during a lecture...)

Hmm, I recall seeing the sign outside saying until midnight, but then the website says until 10, but I know I've been in later than that...

I know I'll fall asleep in the lecture later, is it really worth me going?!
