oxfam have an online second hand bookstall?!
it sells cheap pratchett? :awesome:
gonna have to get me some of this action :yep:

Here it is... Unfortunately I've not left many Pratchetts. I bought four :o: I imagine that their stock is constantly changing, though, so I'm going to check regularly to seize any opportunities that arise :teeth:

I got:

Hogfather
Small Gods
Pyramids

Going Postal.

The first three were in a single omnibus edition, and together cost £4.99 like the last did  I actually bought Small Gods new over the summer and just reread it. So if anybody wants a once-read copy of Small Gods, I'm happy to bring it to the Curry Meet. If you give me £4 for it I'll send the money to Oxfam, as that was where I was going to send the book. (Or you can just directly donate to Oxfam, tell me, and I'll put the book in your pidge.) Feel free to negotiate on the price - I'm just going by how much they were selling theirs for...

I've avoided Oxfam bookshops ever since I cheated the one in Glasgow out of some money :o:

:yep: You should know the curve is a normal distribution :p: top 20% get firsts in medicine

no. it can be approximated using a normal distibution

I am out... sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday and maybe thursday, though thinking of doing a Christmas party instead of revs.

You have friends?! :lolwut: :p:

I'm coming to your formal tonight :ninja:

Selwyn has a good/fair way of selling Christmas formal tickets and we have three Christmas formals, on Monday, Tues & Weds of next week. My friends and I all managed to get tickets on the day we wanted!

You may well have been sat at the same table as me. Like it?
Hmmm. I wonder what I have to do to get a (good!) credit history in this country... just got declined because I didn't pass credit checks.

So did we :shifty: And once again I'm coming this close to emailing them asking them to stop writing about 'Peterhouse college!!!! :banghead:

What's wrong with that?

Argh! You've just demonstrated what's wrong with that...
Have you ever heard anybody say 'Trinity Hall College'? Hall, College and House are the same. You wouldn't say Peterhouse House, Trinity Hall Hall, Jesus College College...

If a person can't get rid of their fixation with 'college' they ought to say St Peter's College, instead of Peterhouse. The first was its original name, the second a more casual name later adopted.

As you can see, wikipedia does not put 'college' after Peterhouse, although the other college entries all have 'college' after the name, except Trinity Hall
Things are not going well. My supervision is in 2.25 hours and I have acheived virtually nothing.

:ditto: I told you Education were crap

:five:
I was, but sleeping :o: I'll come and collect it off of you. Just my luck that it would be the fat one; all the other books I found on the topic were really thin  But then that's also why its such a key text, it has different chapters by different people and several of those were on the reading list...

Well they're not that bad...

It's ok it's in your pidge now. Now to start reading my books...

They don't want James. :bawling:

I was teasing, sorry. Was irresistable in that instance. And I got the book! Thanks so much for taking the trouble!

I see. In their defence, it is a bit harder to tell for Peterhouse though as it's not "Peter House" in the same way that it's "Trinity Hall" not "Trinityhall".

Yeh, I know. I don't mind with ordinary students. I don't think that they should care. I do really mind with professional organisations. So I ended up not buying a May Ball photo in part because they printed 'Peterhouse College' on the mounting which instantly made it look so much less authentic! I mean usually the calligraphy and painted shield really make it look old-worldey, but this time it just looked sloppy and unprofessional. Likewise I expect the same of TCS which ought to represent us and know simple facts like this. They only had to look at Wikipedia! Also I got annoyed at KPMG and others announcing 'Peterhouse College' as their venue for recruitment events, and Giles and Co. printing 'Peterhouse College' hoodies.

I guess you're right about the way its worded, but its annoying how people manage to get it right with Trinity Hall but not us.

1) Have a fixed address - not really applicable for international students
2) Be on the electoral roll - still not really for international students
3) Have lots of savings
4) Took out loans before and paid them back on time

You ought to pay them back. Any Oxfam branch; its not like there's variation in what the profit goes to.

Well it was a legal and legitimate transaction. They sold me a signed copy of Harry Potter for £2.50 without realising it was signed... :o:

I think their book pricing in some stores is generally quite negligent.

I bought a few law books in Oxfam in Milton Keynes for around £2-3 which retail second hand for about £20-30. The Cambridge Oxfam people are very savvy though, and the law text books and such are as much as you'd expect to pay on Amazon market place or very close to the new price.

It normally is based on a normal distribution.

Yeah. I can tell you in advance where I will be:
Sunday = Life/The Place
Monday = Fez
Tuesday & Wednesday = Cindies

Thursday is unknown but possibly Revs?

And Friday we are considering having a Christmas party, with mulled wine, mince pies etc, which you are more than welcome to

Ok. That's not what you made it sound like. Still have a look at their online stuff and see if you can support them further. I found quite a few nice handcrafted stuff (new) which I'll be using for Christmas presents. My cousin will love this for instance. And I'll buy this for another friend's present.
