Guys, quick question.

What would you do if you had to entertain two 18year olds in Cambridge for four days, my little sister and her friend are coming for a day, apart from punting and showing them around some of the colleges, I'm kind of at a loss. They're over from Ireland so a day in London is a novelty, so that's one of the days gone...

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

- punt to Grantchester and take a picnic
- visit some uni museums - they are generally free. http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/museums/
- shopping?
- hire bikes and cycle round the villages around Cambridge
- cinema

Is there anywhere on CamSIS we can get our class breakdowns? I got my results last thursday and according to my DoS the breakdowns would be available. Can't remember if he'd said he'd email them to us or if there was somewhere we could get them from.

Yes but they won't appear on CAMSIS for ages, so you have to email your DoS and ask him/her to provide them sooner.

It will be in the future?

You said Cambridge wouldn't be home again for a long time, which implied you see yourself returning at some point. As I was under the impression you weren't studying further, I was just nosiley asking for clarification :p:

Sorry, I was just being lazy with my sentence there:
"Home, I won't be back in Cambridge for a long, long time. Feels weird to have graduated" should make more sense

Ah yes. Would help if I had noticed the comma :p:

Uh, yes. The fact it is a Sunday afternoon shouldn't really make a difference.

Yes, this is my point. If I'm not ill enough to go to hospital on any other day, but can't happen to make Monday - Friday 9am-10:30am, I shouldn't be forced to go to hospital on a Sunday afternoon. I don't understand what people who work do round here if they need to see a doctor.

They take some time off work...

If you're seriously ill you go to hospital or call the out of hours service, if you aren't then it can wait until monday - which might inconvenience you at work or something

It isn't perfect, but it works fine for most people (including the doctors themselves - most of whom can't work all day every day...)

I don't know of an out-of-hours service, and their website doesn't indicate that they have one.

It isn't perfect?? I mean, I dunno what it's like where you're from, but Newnham Walk is open at least ten hours a day Monday-Friday, from 8am to 6pm, and in fact on most days is open much longer. And they have a (well advertised) out-of-hours service. An hour and a half a day takes the piss.

It doesn't really matter, I'm just ranting a bit. I'm not in a situation where I need to be ringing an ambulance, I just know that every single time I've ever wanted to see a doctor in my life I've had to massively inconvenience myself to do so. In fact, particularly when it's not urgent, I really wouldn't be able to justify things like taking time off work. I kinda wondered if this was the norm (but, having been to Cambridge, I can see it's obviously not).

Oh sorry, only just saw the hour and a half a day thing - that is a bit weird/rubbish really
TBH I don't really understand why they can't just have doctors who do shifts at the GP's on Saturday and Sunday - they don't have to be the same doctors who are there during the week. As well as dealing with people who are ill at the weekend, lots of people who work would find it a lot easier if they could make appointments to see someone at the weekend when they're not at work rather than having to take time off. I guess it's just a question of money to pay their salaries.
I like how all of the people who were with us in the Cambridge Offer Holders' Thread 2008/New Freshers' Discussion days come back in the light of exam results! Come on, you know you want to rejoin us permanently :ninja: *tries to lure in returnees with a trail of rep*

No fair!! Can I come? :frown: I think she's great. I want to be her when I grow up.

 If it's any consolation, I know of at least three other Clareites going so there'll be enough representin', y'all. But yeah, she rocks hardcore beans. :yep: As one of my friends commented, she is irritatingly perfect.

Well I like what I've heard of her music, but I don't think she's very attractive, and she has an unfortunate name (or a badly chosen one if its her adjustment :p:) So I definitely wouldn't label her perfect.

'Rocks hardcore beans' is a good phrase. I may use that in an essay. I love her music, but I just think she's beautiful too - in a lovely, Jewish (:p:) way that makes her stand out. Not that it matters what singers look like, but I think her style makes her an interesting performer.
