I kind of already knew one of the two guys on my staircase was gay, but I was very amused to discover a draft of a love letter by him to another guy in college who had apparently just come out while drunk the night before at a party in our staircase. The letter was left in the shared bathroom

 Why did they think that was a good idea leaving it there?

Its very confusing. It was folded and resting in the feminine disposable sanitary pouch things by the toilet of all places :eyeball: It was quite a good letter for somebody drunk.

How bizarre!

My Christmas cards have arrived, yay!

You're like a Pratchett singularity, from which no book can escape. I started Reaper Man last night, perhaps for the first time in years. I forgot that this was the first Disc reference to football, as far as I'm aware; what's more, Ridcully suggests that UU should field a team. Precedent for Unseen Academicals, perhaps ...
My plan to come home and spend my first few lazy days playing Modern Warfare 2, listening to Wolfmother, and reading Unseen Academicals and And Another Thing... has been a bit screwed by the fact my mum's not letting my dad buy them before Christmas -_-
I still need to unpack

And I'm too lazy to do go anywhere today, so unpacking seems to be my only other option.

By the way, would anybody know of a simple, and free, way to watch iplayer abroad? I've rummaged the internet for help and it all seems very confusing and complicated.

Short answer, no. There's no easy way to do it except for some technical giggery-pockery.

(How you would do it is to find an anonymous proxy based in the UK to go through accessing iplayer so your IP address looks as if it comes from the UK. Unfortunately normally it means it's very slow or doesn't work at all.)

This makes me sad :frown: I'm going to have to procure lots of boxsets before next year.

I'm all packed and ready but reluctant to leave because of the rain. I have to cycle to college to hand my key in and then head to my boyfriend's house, but I can't be bothered to go out, alas. I'm also typing this on my iPod touch out of desperation as my laptop's already in london!

Maybe they were expecting the intended recipient to look there?

Easiest way is to get a UK-based VPN service.

It might not be free and it still could be slow... Hopefully that will change when we set up the underground you-know-what for the ECS.

So many scared applicants... They've taken over college!

Doesn't the university provide one of these?

They do, it might be slow but the most worrying thing is that it's supposed to be for work and they won't be very happy if you tunnel iplayer through it.
I saw Eddie Izzard in the O2 tonight - absolutely amazing. He was in men's clothing, and has a bit of a belly (despite all the recent running), but he's still top of my to-do list.

Cool stuff. I read an interview with him the other day, it said the new tour's really good (as ever I guess)

In other news; still trying to work out if this Misfits thing is as **** as I expected.

I'm not a fan of internship applications, or supervision reports

I just finished Reaper Man  And that's exactly what I was thinking as I read it :five:

I seem to be having incredibly good luck. I found three more Pratchetts at Oxfam today :king1: Thief of Time, Witches Abroad and the Amazing Maurice one. I'm not so excited about the latter, obviously. I'm hugely excited about the first. Thief of Time is almost certainly my favourite Discworld, and I'd begun to despair of ever finding it sold second hand considering its popularity. (It has a character named after me too  )
