It's suddenly snowing very very hard in Brussels - and it's properly sticking. The garden already has a lovely white blanket. Hmm. my plan for the afternoon was Cam work, but my dad has just rung and asked me to do a few hours of admin work for him, which he'll pay me for. And I could really do with the money for Christmas shopping...Guess I'll just have to work on my portfolio this evening...:P

It's snowing at home now!!!
Right, this looks like a good opportunity to make a break for Sainsbury's while the weather's good.
I think I'm meant to say "Snowwwwwww!!" at this point of time. It really is quite worrying how excited we all still get about this- I kinda wish I was back in cam to enjoy it with everyone

Serious? I purposefully went out earlier so that I could be in the snow :yep: And my first port of call was the market, rather than going indoors :ninja2:

I'm really glad I sorted out shopping today! Cambridge was busy, but it definitely felt a hell of alot quieter than at the weekend. Tomorrow would have been a nightmare. I'm stuck on presents for my two younger cousins. They're about 12 or 13 both. I found some science experiment kits but I'm thinking of taking them back because they're probably too young for the boys. I bought them both a mass of chocolate, but its obviously not quite enough :frown: Gah! Its so annoying. I can never remember their ages because I remember them the last time I saw them, and usually age categories seem the same to me (so 9-12 seems roughly the same to me despite the massive differences in their experience of it)
Apart from those two, I'm getting Peterhouse port for all of the adults. Provided the cellar manager is in his office tomorrow morning like he promised. If not, I'll be pretty screwed.

I need some sort of storage solution for my Pratchetts :hmmmm: ukdragon was right, and I got three more on 3 for 2 at Waterstones... :o:
Stupid dog got its head stuck underneath the cupboard in the kitchen and went mental. Good thing I managed to life the cupboard before it hurt itself

Lol! Poor thing

Its only a pup as well. I was terrified it would hurt itself by all the squirming it was doing. Still was funny though

I think my best would be Enya's cover of O Come O Come Emmanuel, which is goosebumpy

ooh, i just found a computer with a sound card. that is beautiful. thanks :h:

Surprised you went to the effort, Amy :p:

I'm in the grad pad with my dissertation reading.

I'm not a huge pet-fan, but puppies are often quite amusing. I guess my nurturing instinct kicks in with baby animals, or something. Shame they grow up :p:

If they're Paul Kirby ones then find a long shelf and row them up. It looks impressive, in a very rococo way.

Yes, I'm very fussy like that.

I'm really hoping the snow doesn't screw up the trains tomorrow... I'm really looking forward to going home!!

I don't like the Kirkby covers (though most of my discworlds still have them). I much prefer the minimal black and white covers you can get pratchett books with.

Nearly finished a first chapter of Bourdieu  Saw FTB and scarlet ibis at the Grad Pad. Came back partly because my laptop battery died.

The snow is fantastic! Old Court has a light dusting now.

Really? :lolwut:

While I would never go for the cover art on its own, all of the Pratchetts I first read had it, so it now has positive sentimental associations, and I also think it really fits the feel of the books (busy, satirical and OTT)

Sometimes I think the whoever that name was ones have way too much going on in them, if they're the ones I think they are.
But I don't believe I own any of another kind.

Well it was probably sensible of the publisher to sell some with a cover appealing to the more conservative reader  People might be put off or get the wrong idea about the books from the crazy Kirby covers. But the plain black cover is boring Its just solid black and then an image or icon on the front. Like a wizard's hat or something basic. The same sort of thing you see on so many other book covers. There's nothing Discworld about it, whereas Kirby art is inherently Discwordly :frown:
