Excellent, some of my favourite fantasy books  They're not especially funny like Pratchett, but they're incredibly well written and I love the plot and ideas - perhaps something that fans of His Dark Materials would enjoy? They're not quite as deep conceptually, but really good stories!

Cool. I'll give them a go next time I have any time.

:console: You'll be back faster than you like. And if we're lucky it will snow in Lent again :yep:
Did you have an ok time the last two weeks? Were there enough Emmanuelites around?

It was quite lonely. There were three Scottish applicants this afternoon all at once which really reminded me of home.

Also I made a few blunders :o: e.g. accidentally giving out an interview question by pure coincidence.

Aw that's a shame. I would have offered to be sociable, but I had so much on my plate that every free moment I have I've used to frantically sort out something like work or Christmas shopping :s-smilie:

I was doing an interesting computer science question for my supervision and I was discussing it with an applicant in the common room. Unfortunately a maths applicant overheard us and since it was about discrete maths it just happend to get asked by his maths interviewers. :facepalm2: I swear I never knew it was an interview question! :s-smilie: Anyway the guy had to tell his interviewers he's seen the question before and they had to skip it.

Oh well :p: I'm sure the interviewers have backups.

Apparently the interviewers did say "tell us if you've seen this before" because the question is quite well-known.

Oh it's interesting but tricky only for an applicant. :p: We got told we can't discuss interview questions before January decisions have come out....

I'm just asking out of curiosity what the interesting result in your supervision work was:p:
But fair enough.

He can PM you. He's right not to post it up on here in public.

Ok I can PM you. A mod says so so I'll just point another mod to this evidence if asked :p:

I did overhear some very funny conversations though!

"That was a good question you asked! You should get them to prove the Twin Primes Conjecture next!"

The strikes may have been called off, but that hasn't stopped the Gods from plotting against me. Bloody snow.

I miss here already! :cry2: and I still haven't packed.

I am still amazed that you are still in Cambridge. I have been home basically 2 weeks now. I do miss Cambridge a bit though. Not the workload, but the actual people about me

This work will buy me an iPod

This sounds geeky but I'm desperate to start my next term's courses!

Meanwhile I can never understand why people dash off so quickly :eyeball: There's never enough time to fully appreciate Cambridge during term. The week or so afterwards when loads of people are still around and stuff is going on but you have no work is just about the best time ever

I just got annoyed at shrieks coming from Old Court this late, but then I looked out and realised it was a snowball fight and couldn't hold it against them :p:

I figured he probably couldn't, but hey.

Always helpful:p:

Ouch, wouldn't have liked to have been in that interview!

Well you're already at Cambridge, so I can't see why not so long as no applicants get to see it  :p:
I don't miss Cambridge at all. I think this is a combination of not enjoying my course as much as I might and the fact that I miss(ed) lots of bits of life back home. :dontknow: I daresay this will change over time.

That's a shame. Are there any other courses you think you might prefer? Still things may well change. SPS is similarly broad to NatSci, and I really did not like first year partly because I was doing loads of things I didn't really care for. Once I specialised in Part II I began to really enjoy my course.
