You're right, there are. Now I have a very difficult decision to make :beard:

Old Court room:

Good points
- Up an old stone staircase
- Window looks out over Old Court
- Cheap price
- Good furniture and storage space
- Only two other students in the entire staircase (both in a shared set) which will make it quieter
- Only shot I'll get at living in the nicest area of college
Bad points
- I might have to move out of it over one or two of the holidays if they use the room for conferences, and I have ALOT of stuff.
- Its an ok size but slightly bigger would be nicer

Gah! :pinch: This is an extremely difficult decision :egg:

as far as I remember (I don't know if you know this, so thought I'd say so) the old court staircase you're talking about doesn't have a proper shower, just a bath, so if that matters to you I'd go with the hostel.

Yep, you're thinking of the right staircase, thanks! :yep: As it happens I prefer baths, so this is a plus.

I wish it did. The summer school I'm going on has terrible coffee, so I'm bringing my own and a cafetiere.:p:

Oh no. Its now my slot and I still can't decide

Chocolate brownie makes a healthy and well rounded breakfast yes?

I've ordered a nice laptop covery thing for my laptop that I haven't got yet :giggle: (it's pretty but not pink, but it's better than pink so that's ok!)

Craggy! go for old courts!!!!!!!

Good-o  and I finished off the batch I made yesterday so I'm making some more later

It's like a soft zip up case for the laptop (my Papie was not impressed that my Mamar let me buy it, he thinks my laptop might not fit, I think he's being silly!)

Did you go for it in the end?

Definitely. Otherwise I wouldn't have cake as breakfast so often.

Can't you just keep the receipt?

I'm still staring at the screen in indecision.
Flip a coin, heads Old Court, tails a hostel. If you don't like the one you get, you know to choose the other :p:
 I'm actually going to do this

:console:

I was grumpy to come home and find that they were making a noise on the Piece again. I love how they only do it when I'm in Cambridge despite me being away alot of the time. However I was much more good humoured about it when I realised it was cricket  The sound of commentators and people playing is far far far less aggravating than severely retarded music blaring out of stupidly loud speakers. In the case of cricket I can at least empathise with the appeal!

And I won't be out of the house myself till round then. My ballot slot ends at 1 and I'm in my pyjamas drinking coffee and having a ginormous inner battle :o:

While I'm at it... how much do people pay for their rooms on here?
I was in a room for £580 a term in first year. But it was a basement so subsidized. Last year I took an attic room for £802. It was impossible to stand straight in alot of it, so they made it that cheap despite having large floor space.
The Old Court room is £808 but it will have smaller space than my attic room because its just a regular non-subsidised room.
The hostel room is £960 which is certainly more expensive than I would have been willing to pay last year. Its just that it being my last year is making me more sentimental. In fact there were hostel rooms available for me to choose this time last year, but I opted out on price grounds.

I can't believe how much inflation is here. My room from last year costs £835 this year. And my first year basement room now costs £625!
My first year room was 950 a term for 3 x 9 and a bit week leases, my room this year will be 896 a term for a 9 month lease.

9 month? Does this mean you not having to move out over holidays? Sounds ideal really. Sadly they don't do this for undergrad accommodation at Peterhouse.

When I matriculated I explained my predicament and begged to be allowed to take a postgrad room, but they wouldn't allow it.

Do they use all Peterhouse rooms for conferencing then? At Clare much of our accomodation is student-only, so we can have it for 9 months at a time without moving out.

What about people that need to stay to work on dissertations and such?
