Yep.

I got forced to go to midnight mass this year. It was an hour and a half of that with half an hour of carols before it, I almost died.

I was taken to a service this year where there were obviously some erm.... less mature members present. In one of the readings where they were talking about how Mary became pregnant, there was the line:

And the Holy Spirit came upon her

At this point someone took this to mean something quite different  to what was intended and burst out into very loud laughter, and had to leave the service. Was an interesting experience.

I was there today and it does

Good! I always suspect it disappears when I'm not there.

Not until I get back.

Oh, and BTW, we need to go and visit F and admire her teapot.

Yes, yes we do. I haven't seen you for aaaages! :woo:

 that has to be the funniest interpretation of the bible i've heard in a long time. People should appreciate Christianity's ability to laugh at itself!
I just found my bike and pumped up the tyres and took it for a spin. Absolutely terrifying :p: Unfortunately I need it at Cambridge next year, so I'd better get practising :s-smilie:

Slightly stupid question: what DO male boaties wear under their lycra?

Underwear. Well, I always did. I can't speak for everyone.

Also, some of them stuff.

I never liked to enquire but my understanding is that yes, socks are the preferred artificial bulge

Ooh, do ceilidh band have any recordings (youtube/mp3/CD) of previous gigs? I have to take samples of the acts I'm interested in to the next May Ball comm. in January

Unfortunately not, but it's one of my jobs to try and get one up by the end of January.

If you are referring to one of our Papworth buddies... no, but it is exactly the sort of thing he would laugh at. I'm looking forward to 2 weeks of Obs and Gynae with him :P

Does anyone listen to Giles Wemmbley-Hogg? There was an episode in which he found cycling too uncomfortable and his scarf-based attempt to alleviate the issue resulted in several girls propositioning themselves to him.

I recommend everyone joins this FB group "Overheard in Cambridge" some pure comedy gold on there

Also, blaah blaah you have a sick, yet amusing, mind.

What happens in Peterborough stays in Peterborough!

What I meant to say was, I don't know what you are talking about. Ben is going the fortnight before we are, I reckon he would want to be included too.

Oh it's nothing Athena. This other bloke is an innuendomeister, and werlop here has got into a competition with him. The one who makes the other laugh at an inopportune moment (as a guy doing O+G, there will be many...) wins.

Ahem.

Ah we had GUM back in September/October. This is going to be more like fetal and maternal medicine, urogynae (i.e. bladder stuff), pregnancy and childbirth, and other gynae-stuff.
Oh dear, I'm in a bit of a quandary. I'm applying for summer jobs at month long residential summer schools, where I'd be doing adminny stuff and planning activities and generally being a live in help. They ask for knowledge of the city, so I'm definitely applying for the one they hold in Cambridge, but there's also one in Barcelona. I'm fairly familiar with Barcelona, although obviously don't know it as well as Cambridge, but part of the reason I'd be wanting to go would be to get my spoken Spanish up to scratch. Problem is, they ask for fluency, and while my reading and writing is fluent enough, although obviously not native, my speaking is not at all good, and the selection is via phone interview. As part of my problem with speaking is nerves, the prospect of a phone interview conducted in Spanish fills me with absolute horror... So I don't know whether to just not apply. But I would like to spend the month in Barcelona. Oh dear :frown: My Spanish probably isn't good enough for the job anyway...

Can't hurt, can it?

Good point. I suppose a traumatic phone interview will be a good life experience
