Grr, my college hubby and I have been trying to watch the BBC adaption of Middlemarch at his grandparents' house. We have to wait till times when they're not using the tv (never) because its a videoset we bought at Oxfam rather than DVD. So they announced that they were going to the doctor's for the afternoon, and we were all set to finish the second half, but then Oxfam rang up and asked my hubby to stand in for somebody who couldn't get to the shop from the neighbouring village because of 2mm of snow :motz:

I have that on DVD somewhere...

Handy, but not in Cambridge?

No, but if you can wait a fortnight, I can get it for you when I go home on 16th

Thanks. If we don't manage to watch it, I'll let you know
I am already beginning to dread getting back to Cambridge :frown: PArtly because of a mock exam on the 13th that is going to go quite badly, partly because although I think that I have the intelligence to study at Cambridge (more or less) I really doubt whether I have the dedication, motivation and enthusiasm to do well. So much of what I am doing at the moment I find incredibly dull and uninteresting :frown:

I've got college tests on the 13th as well, really not looking forward to them...And I can empathise with the middle part of your post - I'm still having so much trouble actually sitting down and doing the work! I find most of it really interesting, but somehow I just can't concentrate on it...and end up on here or Facebook!

I still have that issue now, but have just worked out how to be very productive in the little time I do concentrate on it. So I'll procrastinate for a couple of hours, then do what used to be a couple of hours worth of work in a 30 minute burst. :yep:
I am glad I am not the only person struggling to be bothered to actually learn for the tests. I think I am just really lazy but...

I always thought that college tests were a massive waste of time, so glad I never had to do them
I am going to the Lake District tomorrow until Saturday with the Hillwalking Club. Woo!

It's going to be absolutely bloody freezing though.

*jealous* I was in the lakes this time last year with a friend- absolutely beautiful, derwentwater had half frozen over and we couldn't stay at honister hause YHA becaue its water supplies had frozen up. Just make sure you take plenty of warm clothes...then add a few more and you should be fine
I'm back in Cambridge! :awesome: My room seems to have spawned a new desk lamp over the holidays, which is useful.

I left a little note on my noticeboard to any interviewees staying in my room, and three of them left notes back, which was nice

I've always thought about doing that, but then realised that the cleaners would probably chuck it before any interviewee got to see it :frown:

It sounds really cheesy now reading it back, but there you go... I now know 3 potential 2010 freshers' names... :colone:

In fairness its probably more possible to take that approach in Economics than in Engineering, alex.

At least by your third and fourth year you'll be able to cast off much of the bits you don't like, which will help.

Lucky bugger :p: Wish I had got onto thinking about doing that now. It would be perishingly cold though...

:ditto: If I had them, I probably wouldn't bother to revise.

Did anyone on TSR do the RAG Blind Date last year?
Being tagged in pictures from New Year that I don't remember at all. Good night apparently.

At least my head isn't covered in sellotape in any of them, unlike the mate who managed to lose an hour more than me.

:ditto: Although I guess it could spread out the revision process a bit. It might force me to revise and prepare essays in advance and then all I'd have to do is top that up in Easter and add some new ones from the new material covered.
