It seems some colleges (fitz apparently) are emailing decisions to applicants, does that mean an email without an attachment is gonna become the equivalent of a thin envelope? (i was gonna say this to them but realised it was probably a little cruel )
I got a thin envelope. Perhaps it's college dependent.
Ugh I feel so ill. And I'm going back to Cambridge tomorrow. Just hoping that trains will be going ok.

If I was an admissions tutor and read about the thin envelope thing, I would start padding the rejection envelopes to the same size as the offer ones - maybe with UCAS Extra / Clearing information?
Yeah. I wander if their offer holders chat thread will be as...erm interesting (is that the correct word?)... as ours was last year
They seem like they're getting the hang of the impenetrable cliquey vibe! They need a Dave (now I actually know him, I never call him Dave, and it seems weird...).
That link's interesting. I can certainly concur that 'careers advice' in my school was terrible. I like the "we're monitoring it" - the Cam forum mafia, headed by Craggy, has it under control

Yeah, though I was right the whole time that he was just acting like that online and wasn't really like that at all. I only ever see him in lectures though

Lol. I don't actually mod in here but the other mods I work with do and they were like And if the threads on TSR are anything to go by, any teacher giving non-researched advice to sixth formers should be shot.
That is interesting. I have to say my school did not have a notion when it came to careers advice. Not only that but they never really encouraged anyone to apply to Oxbridge at all, rather they discouraged most people

Ersong, as we call him, is actually really nice, if slightly scary when he runs at you at full speed pulling a strange face for no apparent reason
Actually, I'm the one who's been handing out warnings
What all have they been doing for the warnings?

I am sure he is nice. I have just never seen him outside of lectures. He's never out(though to be fair I haven't seen anyone out in a club apart from Tyro who is on this). I think we should encourage someone to become the Dave of their offer holders chat thread. We should maybe even set one up for them tomorrow to encourage it

No, encouraging a Dave figure would be morally reprehensible, and result in many warnings *looks sweetfacedly at Craggy and Athena*

Yeh that's precisely the problem. Makes my blood boil. Just the other day I was chatting to an old college friend (very bad college we went to) who just graduated in Chemistry from Bristol. He made a comment like 'but everyone knows that Cambridge is really expensive to live in!' The perceptions are treated as gospel truth by smart, educated people along with everyone else.
