Doesn't that kinda negate the point of parents, as there someone to ask questions of Cambridge before you go

I don't know. They arranged a couple of family events during and following Freshers' Week, at which we could ask questions I suppose.

On the subject of college parents, mine were appalling. My dad did write me a letter, bur not my mum. And then when I arrived they both failed to organise anything. The first time I met my mum (she did at least come and find me I suppose) she just told me that I'd hate my first year, that the course was dreadfully stressful and then left me to it. Nice.

My college husband and I both wrote extensive letters and I even included a CD of images of life in college with mine. I'm still in contact with one of my college sons ocasionally, but the other degraded and I lost touch.

I am in love with Adam R though. He's going through the Alpha Course atm (he has a Guardian blog) and we agree on so much  Curse him for being happily married with two kids!

Alpha Course?

Yeah, it's meant to convert thinking agnostics/atheists to Christianity. However, some Alpha Course branches (each demonination teaches it differently) have been accused of being cult-ish. It got rammed down my throat a lot while I was at Oxford, in various guises, and I'm glad to see someone taking a reasonably considered look at it.

I know Alpha, just wasn't sure if you meant the christian one I know or something unrelated and sciencey :p:
And hmm... the original course and teaching materials from Nicky Gumbel/Holy Trinity Brompton are good, but obviously if the application is dodgy then that just ruins it.

Make excited baby animal noises in. It's not quite a squeal, but something similar. And I think Amy uses the word squee to express excitement (for some reason, I associate it with :pinch: )

Any way, they aren't in here yet, are they? :p:

hehe, its the sort of word i'd mainly use in a typed context, but yes, you describe it very well!

Good day today.

Got a gorgeous green dress originally from Kew for £8 from Cancer Research shop, and my boat primer arrived in a large satisfying parcel marked 'PAINT'
