I have most definitely been neglecting CamChat/TSR. In case anyone cared (most unlikely :frown:) I'm still alive. :hello:

I care :itsme: Welcome back.

For you and any other nearby mathmos: does the "switch the middle number and put it in front" thing work? My intuition and some half-baked reasoning says yes, presuming a continuous flipping of coins, but I'm pretty crap at common-sense probability.

I'm quite happy with the conclusion of the whole thing, really. It probably was a camera trick, but I think it's quite cool the way he basically said "here's an hour of crap, but wait, maybe I did fix the lottery". Although it's very implausible, it's still possible, which is nice.

That was the biggest waste of my life ever.

I'm not surprised, but then I tend to see all TV as one big waste of time in general :s-smilie: :p:

Hello everyone - I thought I'd (briefly) check in from St. Petersburg; I'm having really quite an excellent time, despite the chronic rudeness of the natives! Who could dislike a country with such cheap vodka and excellent pancake take-aways?

Why does Britain not have a chain of pancake restaurants? The independent ones are difficult to find unless you know where you're looking. :frown:

Thanks to those cared about me :p: I've been majorly busy with certain things which I'm sure I'll tell you all about at the next meet, but don't to care to mention on the internet. I've done absolutely no work for my assessed essays this holiday which is not really good I guess. :s-smilie:

Those of us who took the INT1 rather than SOC3 (assessed essay) option last year definitely didn't do any work over the summer. I'm sure that's fairly normal.

I'm pretty sure the people I know have been asked to do a full draft of one of their Pol5/Soc3 questions, and that's what minimo told me at one of the TSR meets as well.

Oh fair enough. Yeh we couldn't exactly do that in INT1 because they gave us research training right through Michaelmas, which was fairly crucial to everything.
1. I get confirmation of my OTR request and am told that I can stay in my balloted room.
2. I arrive, get the key to my house and enter, only to find everything covered in dust sheets and mid-way through decoration
3. After some fussing around, I get the key to a room next door, but am sadly internetless and in the dark at least until tomorrow.

Ah well, at least it means fewer distractions from my dissertation... :p:

College actually redecorates? :woo:

I know, I thought the porter was joking when he said the rooms had just been redecorated. Turns out he was just wrong about the decoration having been finished...

Also: I'm currently in Liam's room, so at least he won't be wanting it until the start of term. :p:

I'm going to start packing for Cambridge this evening. Important first task: to find all my face paints/fancy dress make-up, and decide what costumes to take with me for bops/entz (ents?) :colone: I'm guessing school disco will be standard for freshers week? Even if Darwin don't have a back to school bop, I bet I'll end up crashing a bop with that theme somewhere...

I was hoping that the pink ribbon I found yesterday would do for my fancy dress. I was going to tie it in a bow around me and call myself an easter egg.

Or a parcel.

Or minnie mouse.

Or just an idiot.

Ah dressing up.. I don't think I'll ever be able to beat my badger costume. And I can't believe that I only have a year left of crazy costumes :frown:

You're in my husband's bedroom?! He told me he was away on 'business' to NZ... sniff.. :p:
I haven't actually seen my room for next year.. Hope it's nice.

Cheers, I just lost the game.

To be fair that would be more effort than some people make.

It's more effort than I would have made had I not found the ribbon. I don't do fancy dress

I'm listening to an abba tribute concert on radio 2 at the moment and it's making me question the purpose of life.
