A few more days probably. Don't do any exercises that use chest even as a secondary group until it's healed. Was it a sharp pain, and is this a repeat thread becuase I just got deja vu?

very sharp pain after this sort of time doesn't sound much like muscular pain to me - I've pulled enough muscles in my time. Never one in that region though... muscular pain tends to me more of a persistant, dull ache - only sharp on the occasion where you tweak in a certain way through motion. You may want to get it checked out.

yep it is sharp on occasion when i move my right hand.god hurts.my sis, a doctor herself, told me that my muscle got exposed to cold.is it rly true that if you overcool ur muscle it may give pain?i ve had such things b4 with other parts of the body, but they tended to go away quicker.

It can take quite a while for muscle pain there to go. Maybe go to the doc if it doesn't clear in a couple of days. Lots of rest and laying down, ibruleve etc.

okay, this doesn't sound so bad then. Massage can help, and gentle movement is good. Try to stretch the muscle out (depending where it is, this can be tricky of course). Don't let the muscle just sit there aching, use it gently and get it moving - DON'T overdo it though.

I've been a swimmer for many many years - you don't tend to pull muscles in your body with that, but you can certainly get some trully amazing aches in your arms, legs and shoulder/pecks. Last time I did my self an injustice I got cramp in both calves - full on (you could see each muscle pulling as tight as it would pull). This had me in agony for a day or two every time I tried to walk. The lesson?

Stretch!!
Do a full warmup!!

Keep loose, if you feel the muscles tightening up or getting really tired, give them a good long stretch and be gentle on them for a few minutes (but not stopping altogether - then they cool off or just tighten up worse) - which brings on the last rule:

Do a proper cool-down set!!

These are generic rules that should spread to any sport. Not in to weights myself, find them too boring (this coming from a guy who just goes up and down a pool, heh, shrug), but to a certain extent it's all the same. With weights especially, know your limits - don't just keep pushing the heaviest thing you can. If you don't already have one, buy a decent exercise book that details how to make a good routine, and how to structure sets for maximum benefit and minimum risk. Weights benefit from a spotter to ensure you've got the right motion - with a heavy load, you don't want to have the wrong action, or you'll twist things in ways they don't want to be twisted.

My twelve cents

Do you have a wheat bag?

Depending on whether you prefer heat or cold on pulls, they're absolutely fantastic.

Wheat bags are sooooo amazing, I have a lavender scented one!!
