It is clearly seeming to me that my performance on the test is highly dependent on how much rough paper I have.

I know exactly what you mean.
I'm just going to revise in all my free's tomorrow and Tuesday, this extended project has just filled up all my working time this holiday :frown:.
I did the specimen test and got 40/50 which I thought wasn't too bad, although I didn't finish in time. I'm hoping the pressure in the real exam will speed me up a bit. It was mostly the critical thinking type questions that got me, but looking at some of the stuff on the website has helped me sort out most of my issues with that.

I'm most worried about the essay writing bit, I'm worried I'll just not have anything to say for any of them :s-smilie:. Or just be a bit rubbish generally.
Bahh.

Since I'm not from GB I haven't done anything like Thinking Skills or something like that before. I guess the only way to prepare for the test is to get a feeling for it by doing the online practise test on the TSA site. Doing it I think I developed a feeling for the way the questions are constructed. I did the online test and it told me that I had reached an overall score of 83%, which I think isn't too bad considering that last year's average score was 63%. But I guess the TSA on Wednesday is going to be much harder than the practise test on the hp.
Good luck everyone on Wednesday!

What exactly is the "PPE candidate number" that must be written on the answer sheet? Is it the UCAS personal ID or something else?
It's a special number that should have been emailed/posted to you- if you don't know, ask your college/test centre.

So the test center is responsible for assigning the number? That is, I shouldn't have received such a number from UCAS, Oxford, or Cambridge Assessment directly, but through the test center?
oh God now am so nervous, everyone's getting wonderful scores on the practice test and i stupidly did it untimed and on different days over the summer so i don't even know where i stand. plus i want to revise but i've got school essays due :frown:
also, there are far too many other distractions!
I need help!!!

Do you mean offers from Oxford? I got an offer from York for PPE and I've only done maths to GCSE, lol.
I am gonna use this as an outlet for a rant.... This whole thing has made me quite depressed. This feeling of helplessness is one I am not acquainted with, nor want to be. I have tried everything within my powers (n then some) to make my application as good as possible; I also reckon I can kick ass at an interview. The thought that I might not get one because of this stupid test is simply depressing! I can't write a prompt essay for love or money (mostly due to lack of practice because of my science background), and my score in the practice tsa was a meagre 74% (compared to the scores posted here). If the scores are calibrated so that the average student gets 60 I might get 55 or something :frown: Condolences are appreciated but in the end you are causing my problems.... If you want to really help me leave a few questions intentionally unanswered.... I will really apreciate it
P.s I was mostly joking about that last bit.... mostly

don't worry .. you're still better than I'm
I'll do it for u :biggrin::biggrin:
2GvSAP_Snoopy: i'm sure .. it's on Wed  .. calm down )) breathe!
Chill everyone! In the end it's just a bunch of logic puzzles and word games and an essay which hardly anyone will have the knowledge needed to do particularly well (unless it's a fluke).
If you have a really good application and this is the one thing that lets you down then there's probably a good chance you'll get an interview anyway. Just hope for the best.

(This patronizing little lecture is partly to make myself feel better tbh)

Thanks for your calming words Metamorphosis_S!

I think it was quite hard though, to finish all questions in 90 mins. Will see how it goes. For my part, I'm quite confident that this test will negatively effect my application. But, we'll see!

Hey, I'm sure your absolutely fine .
