What were the 3 essay questions? Same as E&M? If so, what?

You're not allowed to discuss the test in detail yet (people in other countries may not have taken it yet), so please don't post/ask about questions.
tiddlywinksmaster
did anyone else think question 28 in the multiple choice didn't make sense? or is that just me... :frown:

how can we remember that?

YES. They are the same.

Not at all. I'm an international applicant and took TSA at 6:30 pm in local time, which is exactly same as 9:30 am in GMT.
According to my invigilator in the British Council, everyone took TSA on the same day and on the same time (9:30 am in GMT), except applicants in America (where they took it yesterday due to time difference).

That's all very well for you as you are ahead of GMT, but there are centres in North America and South America whose days haven't even started yet. Don't discuss the paper.

I said they already sat the test yesterday

Your invigilator is wrong. People are taking the test on 5th November local time.

Thanks for clarifying.
In that case what I said still stands: any posts containing details about exam questions will be removed.
well the test was a bit alright, the essay being much better than the multiple choice, imo....just that i got a bit confused after the test and went to the wrong classroom and almost sat down before i realised that everyone around me was in the year below. ah well, now that's done, thank goodness!

Maybe. OK. I won’t discuss about questions. but it doesn't make sense.
Why do some people take it 9:30 am in local time, while others have to take to 9:30 am in GMT? That's totally unfair.
I finished TSA about 9:00 pm in local time and it was the first time in my life that I had to take exams at night.
I found this pretty weird. I had no choice but to comply with them, but it’s really weird and a bit unfair to be honest.
Hey if anything to go by, I am taking the TSA and I haven't taken it. So yeah even though it's tempting... please don't spoil it (:

My test is on 8 Nov because where I live, most Oxford hopefuls (and thus TSA-takers) are in the midst of December A-Levels and there are exams going on now. So they had to shift it to a Saturday.

That said, hope everyone who has taken it has done well! (: All the best (:

Agree. And I didn't manage to finish all questions in time either .
I doubt that this test in any way can have a positive effect on my application.

How did your essay-writing go?
That's absolutely ridiculous. So incredibly easy to cheat. Surely they must give you different questions or something? :/

I thought the multiple choice was relatively easy, but on the rest, baring a couple, I was confident.

I'm disappointed with my essay, it's probably okay, but should have been quite a lot better.
they do give different questions... Tsa went well had a good 15 mins to read over it essay went okish...

Think of it this way. There are six pre-interview tests taking place on 5 November: BMAT, TSA for PPE and E&M, ELAT, History, Physics and Maths. Combined, that's nearly 2/3rds of the total applicants.

What do you think the chances are that every single one of these applicants would be able to take the test at exactly the same time, 09.30GMT? Pretty slim. Your centre, the British Council, decided to be diligent and organise their sitting for 09.30GMT, which admittedly is a little awkward for you, but at least 6.30pm is a time when most people are still awake and going about their day. On the west coast of the USA and Canada that might be 1.30 or 2.30 in the morning, and it would be pretty unreasonable to expect these candidates to begin their tests at a time when they're usually asleep.

IenuanF - could I ask what you have predicted for A-levels and GCSE please?

I am also applying to the LSE for Philos+Politics and am worried I don't stand a chance ha :o:

Thanks

You state: which admittedly is a little awkward for you

Well, that's not necessarily true. Almost every candidate, of course including me, complained about this strange arrangement or irrational exam schedule if you please. Besides, note that 6pm is still a regular working hour for them, because they have English classes at night. But here we are taking about the university entrance exam, not english language courses. The exam stared at 7 pm (had to arrive there by 6:30 pm though) and finished around 9:10 pm. I have never seen/taken any formal examination that was administered at night. Personally I believe I took a broad range of tests and exams in my life, such as IELTS, TOEFL, DELF, DALF, SAT, ACT, AP, IB, GCSE to name a few, but it was the first time I had to take exam at night. I mean, have you ever taken exam at 7pm to 9pm? That's nonsense. End of discussion.

edit: maybe 7am would have been more plausible than 7pm.
(In the IB, exam begins at 0700 local time and finishes at 1800 at the latest)

Are you willing to take your A-levels at 7pm to 9pm, instead of the regular examination schedule?
If there's anyone who has taken their university entrance exams at night (like 7pm to 9pm), please tell me.
When should we expect interview letter/rejection?

Yes. When I was a student at Oxford.

I'm not arguing with you about this any more. It's unfortunate for you that your centre made you adhere to GMT but that doesn't mean that people in more awkward time zones than you should have to do so as well. Like I said before, 7pm isn't ideal but at least it's not ruining your body clock like it would for someone in -7 or -8GMT who'd have to be taking an exam through the night to fit in with that regulation.

Anyway, you've done the test now; don't dwell on it. Good luck with the rest of your application.
