Yes. When I was a student at Oxford.

I'm not arguing with you about this any more. It's unfortunate for you that your centre made you adhere to GMT but that doesn't mean that people in more awkward time zones than you should have to do so as well. Like I said before, 7pm isn't ideal but at least it's not ruining your body clock like it would for someone in -7 or -8GMT who'd have to be taking an exam through the night to fit in with that regulation.

Anyway, you've done the test now; don't dwell on it. Good luck with the rest of your application.

Aren't we talking about the university entrance exam here?

Like in the International Baccalaureate, every candidate should have taken their exam 0930 local time, regardless of their region. Some students have to take it 0930 GMT, whilst others can take it 0930 local time. I am fully aware of that I must follow their instructions as an applicant, but they could have been a lot better. Anyway… My point is that they should have been more consistent with those exams.

but they could have been more understanding

edit: thanks anyway!

When should we expect interview letter/rejection?

I've heard that about one week before interviews, what makes it end of November or beginning of December.

IenuanF - could I ask what you have predicted for A-levels and GCSE please?

I am also applying to the LSE for Philos+Politics and am worried I don't stand a chance ha :o:

Thanks

Hi.

I got AAAA at A-level in English Lit, Physics, Law and Psychology. I got 5A*s and 5As at GCSE. My a-level combination isn't exactly amazing. Also, I've heard that LSE are a bit strict on GCSEs - i.e. mine might not be good enough.

But who knows. It's a new course this year after all.

But I don't massively won't to go to LSE anyway. Oxford's my first choice.

Yeah, a bit of hope.
I cannot predict the score, it's completely unforseeable.
Aaah it's over .
I found the type questions really tricky and they wasted looads of my time, and at one point I just couldn't for the life of me work out how to divide. All together I skipped one and half guessed one but at least I completed the paper, I was worried I wouldn't. I swear the type one's seemed so much easier than those on the mock :s-smilie:.
The essay was meh. Not brilliant but I doubt I could have done much better given the conditions. All in all I'm fairly happy with it, at least I don't think I totally bombed it which is always a start.

haven't you read the previous posts???

you will be WARNED in a minute.

Eh? Discussing how many questions were missed doesn't exactly tell anyone else what was on the paper now does it.

oh can we discuss about it then?
i found essay question quite good...i think/hope! timing was a big issue for me in multiple choice, so it's comforting to hear a few found the same.

In my opinion, writing that we found it OK/easy/difficult or that we did everything without any problem or we had much trouble with it, is not wrong. However discussing questions, especially in details is forbidden, beacause some people will take this test, some on 8th Nov.
Unless You'd like to send them PMs and help Your competitiors - I doubt
SO.......No one's really answered my question...lol

There's definitely hope. Completely depends on what average scores are. Even if you are below average, they still interview the majority of applicants (especially for colleges like Mansfield) so you certainly have a good chance.

I don't feel too great about my performances. At least I don't believe it went well, haha. And the essay part, I just lacked imagination and inspiration to write something other than the usual essay stuff. Probably even worse.

I'm sure it went fine for you.. What college are you applying to?

thank you for summing up exactly how my essay portion went - I was struggling to find the words to describe to people what I meant when I said 'my essay went crap' - what you have written is exactly it, except where as you said your one was probably worse than the usual essay stuff, I know mine was 100% worse ha :yep:
I find it hard =/
How much did everyone write for the essay?
I don't think the test did my application much good either- and I was hoping to do really well on it!

Either way, we'll find out whether we've been rejected by the end of the month...

PS. You can tell my glass is half empty...
I swear by the 50th MCQ my brain was on fire...
Wrote about a page and a half for the essay...I think that's the average?
Ah well, at least it's over :s-smilie:

On fire in a positive or negative sense?
If a Somerville tutor happens to snoop around on here... I'm so much better than my essay! Honest! Give me an interview please :sadnod: You don't need to be Morse to work out my real name, by the way

Oh how desperate...
Well, that sucked

In a bad way truuuust me. 45 mins and I was only on the 19th question...I had to guess some of the last ones because I had only 1 minute left! Then my brain decided to switch off for the mathsy ones after about! :o: My timing just ain't good!
Just fingers crossed I get an interview at least...how'd you find it anyway?
