Oxford PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) Students and Applicants

I just read about someone in the LSE thread who has 12 A* and is predicted some really high IB score who was rejected without interview this year for PPE...please tell me not everyone else with an interview is superhuman...

how disappointing, my sis jus called back to say nothing's arrived yet- well i guess it's better than a rejection. why is LMH taking so long though??? and to make matters worse, someone has got their interview there already.

You'll be fine don't worry! I know some people from LMH not on TSR who applied for the same course (History) but one found out they had an interview a week after the other. It's gonna be ok! (says in a cool guy superhero voice)

Don't worry about it, I know I got poor grades. There weren't any exceptional circumstances but examination results are just one of six different things they consider. Academic reference, personal statement, predicted grades and the TSA along with the interview are all considered as well so I gues I did particularly well on one or more of those things. Yay me

I was offered an interview at Oriel but since I live in the U.S. they said I could do it by phone, or I could go to Oxford and do it in person. Worth it to go and do it in person, or is a phone interview similar enough? Does anyone know anything about phone interviews?

If you're listing PPE interviews, I had mine about a month ago (international interview). I'm a Magdalen applicant.

Oh wow, how did that go? I know you can't say much do to forum rules but do you feel you did well?

Philosophy part seemed to have gone really well whereas the economics part went terribly.

I read a passage and was asked questions about it however, I'd thought that it was to be taken as fact but found whilst interviewing that it was just an argument and students were meant to have evaluated its strengths and weaknesses, determining whether or not they agreed.

You need to check!! I just got mine, I'm so so so happy it's unreal, I don't know why it means so much to me! They sent it in the mail yesterday lol so it was sent late!

Also about the meet, now that I wont be jinxing anything I'd love to come as well.

ouch! i just called LMH, couldn't wait any longer for my sis to go check the mail. and bad news, they regret to inform me that i have not been given an interview.
God, this is so surreal, i can't even cry!
