I'm thinking about applying for PPE in 2010. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the TSA is all about?
there is a specimen paper on the cambridge assesment website. in short 1 and a half hours for 50 multiple chice questions then 30min essay

**** the competition on the interviews was unbelievable...i so expect a rejection. but when i get it i will get so wasted....

Why so competitive? Really good grades and a knowledge of all the works of philosophy since 400 BC being the norm or something?

*worries about applying next year* :s-smilie:

Are calculators allowed in TSA tests?

No, but you shouldn't need one.

in my interviews no previous knowledge wasn't required at all it was all on new texts so no amount of knowledge would have benefited a candidate. good grades though are obviously required

Another week of waiting... I keep telling myself and everybody who asks that I'll get rejected but then drift off into fantasies about my life at Oxford etc... I think I'm going to go insane  :yep:

Haha, yeah I'd love life at Oxford. I hate to sound lazy but every week having three meals a day being made for me sounds absolutely brilliant, all aboard the gravy train!

You haven't included the druid sheep who were accepted - they weren't included on the statistics for 2007 and 2008, so the actual numbers are:

2007: -14
2008: 694.5

You killed the joke. Had to be said.
News of the day!

Postal workers from seven sorting offices are to take part in a 24-hour strike over the merger of some depots.

Mick Kavanagh, from the Communication Workers Union, said they would strike on 19 December as 500 jobs may be lost.

Workers from centres at Coventry, Crewe, Liverpool, Stockport, Bolton, Oldham and Oxford are set to take part.

Mr Kavanagh said there could be further action at the end of December and early January but the door was "still open" for talks with Royal Mail.

I think it's time we should stop feeling nervous about receiving the results before Xmas. If they decide to send the letters out this Friday (when the strike begins), I wonder when we would actually receive it. Maybe, after the holiday?

Okay, honestly, I don't know whether this adds up to the tensions or alleviates it...

motherf***ers...
I would have thought that they'll send the letter out even earlier than the 19th, considering that nearly all the PPEist I met were done on Wednesday morning last week. They should be done with choosing whom to give offers to by now, shouldn't they?

My offer arrived a few days before the date that the offers were supposedly being sent out on. It will vary by college, but don't be surprised if it arrives within the next few days.

Ok then
Interviewed at Somerville by the way, I quite liked the place and the atmosphere there
