Two out of my six applications were for politics and economics (LSE and Bristol, so not particularly easy to get into places), I wrote my personal statement as a clear PPE one and still got offers from both non-PPE places.

Yarp, same here, though no idea how Bath thought they were worth an AAA. I think it makes it pretty obvious you're applying for PPE at Oxford owing to the PS and the time you're sending in your application, though, so it depends on how much that matters to you (Mr. Cool)...

That's quite interesting as I've heard that LSE particularly are not keen on PSs which don't directly focus on their courses and that PPE applicants get rejected for Gov and Econ all the time because of this...

Ah, I see...

I can't decide whether I want to apply to the LSE or not...I don't think I will - I think I'll stick with my 5 PPE choices...

For the past week or so, I've been thinking about applying for Politics & Economics at LSE, but I'm unsure; my GCSEs aren't great, and I'm not doing a further maths A level. I've looked around the LSE forum, and some people have gotten onto the course with similar GCSEs as mine. However, some people say they really only look at grades, and just take the top %, not really caring for the personal statement, and there's others that say they take the personal statement quite seriously.

I guess it's worth a try..

More likely the self taught A level maths taken a year and a half early

Arghhh....do I really want to stay in London?? That's the question...their accomodation is very expensive - yet, on the other hand, I'm really not too keen on my bottom 2 choices...

I've only looked around York so far, and I didn't really like that. I'm probably going to take a trip up to Durham or a Scottish uni and see how they are, but atm, it's only Oxford and LSE I wanna apply for. I've said before that I don't really mind getting 5 rejections. I'd much rather re-apply with A2 results and go somewhere I really want rather than spend 3 years at somewhere I wasn't so fond of. Although I guess I can't actually judge beforehand..

Yeah, at the moment (without visiting the place :shifty:), I'm leaning towards Exeter. I'll see what I get in my ASs, and if they're good enough, I'll take a trip up to Oxford and have a look 'round the colleges on the open day.

Sounds interesting!
I'm thinking of applying for PPE at Oxford and Politics (and/or) Philosophy courses at other Universities (LSE, UCL etc).
Would this be detrimental to my application, do you advise that I stick to one course?

Very probable that LSE would reject you automatically regardless of the course as you are a likely oxfordian.

I got into PPE Oxford, and besides Warwick none of my other UCAS choices were PPE, and I got offers from all except LSE. They were all some comibination of Eco and Politics/Philosophy. Picking different courses wouldn't be detrimental at all - Oxford realises that you aren't going to apply to 5 PPE courses, in fact they expect it. I can't even think of 5 universities that offer PPE at this moment :P
