I've got an interview at St John's College Cambridge for biological natural sciences. It's Wednesday 9th December, and I'm supposed to sit a test in the morning. Can anyone tell me what kind of questions I can look forward to doing at it? The website says 'Quantitative Biology' but does anyone know specifically what it'll be about, or even better, has anyone sat it and could possibly give me some advice? Do we know how important the mark is?
How is everyone planning on preparing for their interviews?
Reading the economist/newspapers. Skimming back over the books i mentioned in my PS. Reading introductory books on philo, pol and eco. Getting teachers to give me mock interviews. Thinking aboout the kinda stuff they might ask me/how to think outside the box. Looking at wiki articles on things like how the UK govt system works, general political knowledge, follow the advice on the first page of this thread aboout interviews. Im gonna try NOT to over do it, there's no point going in there with a prepared or trying to gear the conversation/interview to something which you already know about- tutors are gonna see right past this and it will do more harm than good.

same I think the best thing is to keep up with current affairs, I mite have a flick through some books maybe some Keynes/Hobbes/Marx
Watch question time!
Beg my teachers not to giv me hw and beg work to give me Saturday off! I find it comforting to think it's not what I know but how I think that matters! I'm not gna go crazy just have a nice week so I'm not all stressed out
Is ppe at oxford a realistic target with just 4A*s and 6As from an independent school at gcse?
That's not a disaster, and you could make up for it by having excellent AS grades, ie try nd do 5 subjects nd get As in all of them. This would certainly balance it out. But don't worry about it i think they say the average is 6A*s so around half of the applicants will have more than that and half will have less

Lol yeah im actually gonna apply to be on QT cos it's in london where i live, how cool would it be if i was able to make a point/ask a Q, and then i go to the interview and they're like "I think I've seen you somewhere before?" lool but it's really hard to get into it, quite oversubscribed.

I'm from London where abouts? I'm near Essex! Yh I've tried many a time but I never get on funnily enough I went to the house of parliament to watch prime ministers questions it was brilliant! And easier to get on to than QT just sent emails to lots of mps and lords what a world we live In it's easier to go to parliament than get on the BBC equivalent lol

Sure, why not? I had much the same as you (5A*s, 5As, 1B) and I'm procrastinating from my Oxford PPE work right now. GCSE grades don't really matter that much. Just make sure you get predicted 3 or more As at A2, and the AS results to back that up.

Lol, ok that is not messing up at As level. I have said this so many times I can't remember but my GCSE grades were 2A*s and 8As with As grades of ABBC so seriously, almost no-one here should think their grades will stop them getting in. Of course though do as well as you can, AAAA at As will stand you in much better stead obviously.
