Good luck all those with interviews - PM me with interview experiences if you think they'd be useful to merge into the guide

will do

I'd bring a pack of cards if I were you. I don't know what Hertford will be like but at my interviews we spent the time we didn't have actual interviews just chatting and playing cards/board games. You'll probably have something organised for the last night you're there but basically you're left to stew.:p: A bottle of vodka for your final night might make you popular too.

kk cheers .

me thinks better to bring out vodka on first night actually, but just not to drink any of it myself

Hey! I'm new here. Pleased to meet you all =)

I've got an interview at St John's College Cambridge for biological natural sciences. It's Wednesday 9th December, and I'm supposed to sit a test in the morning.
Can anyone tell me what kind of questions I can look forward to doing at it? The website says 'Quantitative Biology' but does anyone know specifically what it'll be about, or even better, has anyone sat it and could possibly give me some advice? Do we know how important the mark is?:woo:

Thanks

You're not allowed to discuss interview content, I assume this also counts for written tests...But from the test last year, "quantitative biology" fits quite well. There were calculations set in a scientific (particularly biological, less physical) context, as well as an essay.

Did anybody have an interview over the last couple of days? I had one yesterday so I guess I might have seen some of you guys?

Okay, I'm am entering IB next year and I want to attend Cambridge for natural sciences(phys.). The problem is that none of my school teachers are qualified to teach HL Maths :frown: . Is there anything that I can do to prove that my mathematics skills are at a high level without HL Maths?

no but i guess u could take physics or chem to HL and explain to the uni the situation, im sure they'd understand and still consider you - and they could even phone the school to check so you should be fine
You should inform Cambridge when you make your application that you can't take HL maths 'cause no one at your school is enabled to teach them. They take that sort of thing into account. In any case, if I were you I'd try to teach myself HL maths and take the examination anyway if you can, it will certainly help you a lot both in your application and for your interviews.
You mention that your maths skills are at a high level, haven't you taken any examinations that prove this? I think they could probably be taken into account by Cambridge, provided they're official examinations... You might also consider checking out what Maths exams you can take without being taught officially... I hope this helps. Good luck!

Which uni are you looking to now? Still got LSE in there...?
