How come you can apply to multiple colleges? Am I missing something here?

if you read my original post properly youll see the extent of my knowledge of the matter

Actually!!!!!!!!
I did read your post properly and it said that the interview was like a Q&A session! That doesn't exactly state whether they asked you knowledge based questions does it. For all I no they could have asked you questions like why did you choose Imperial, what have you got to offer Imperial etc....
So what type of question did they ask u?

ermmmmmm, yes, you are missing something. multiple people can apply to multiple colleges in a one-to-one fashion.

Sorry. I thought you were talking about yourself. That's what happens when you try and decipher the last thread of a string of many.

That defeats the object of an interview somewhat don't it?

 as ive already explained, it wasnt really an interview. doh!
Well done mate!
The reason you probably didn't have to go through the standardised interview crap was that you already had sparkling good grades. Are you actually just doing a gap year now, or are you re-taking or what?

well i went up to imperial college in london today for an interview for a 4 year theoretical physics course (MSci)... it wasnt really an interview, more of a Q&A session and a tour, but still it was interesting. so here's my opinion on imperial after seeing it first-hand (points in no particular order)

pro:
impressive research record/friendly professors
excellent facilities (labs/computers/sports etc.)
nearby to museums/galleries etc (ie a pro of being in london)
nice accommodation (at least for the first years) in a classy area.
highly-paid jobs (supposedly) freely available for summer work
year in europe as part of the course (id want to go to germany) sounds VERY cool!
good nightlife (id expect!) with big clubs etc.

cons:
crappy 60s architecture
noise/bustle/pollution/crime of london life
anonymity of living in a big city/student body
so many international students (it seemed like 50% or more!!).
expense
only guaranteed IC accommodation for the first year
26% female (arrrrrrrrrrgh!!) on physics course. although hopefully there will be lots of ladies doing bio/med etc. to make up the numbers
the physicists there seemed kind of geeky (ah well i suppose thats to be expected!) and shy

-There's no real problem with crime rate in central london, IC is in a very exclusive area. (i.e. potential for a rich broad). Although, you will need to watch out with where you get accommodation after your 1st year.
-International Students...think you'll come around to seeing that as a plus point if you choose to go to IC, although with such a high figure you do sometimes get the feeling that youre studying abroad.
-ahh accommodation can be expensive, no doubt, you have to look around a hell of a lot to get it on the cheap, defo possible though.
-LOL, as for gender ratio, we always joke about what Imperial students do during incredibly boring lectures, exactly what do they stare at?
-geek...well, yes. There are many other colleges however, and it's easy to get involved with inter-coll matters.
-as for 2nd choice, yeah, defo for its reputation in academic circles.

That has just shown me a great advantage of gap years. Instead of slaving away at A2's you can potentially dedicate lots of time to interview preparation!
