It's probably very likely. What course are you planning to study? Just e-mail/phone them, and I'm sure that they'll very likely say yes. If you have solid grades, even if they don't allow you deferred entry, you could always reapply next year and you'll surely get accepted at somewhere worth studying, if not Manchester.

Nice Woodie Allen quote though. Oh, and I have nimium eruditionis, too. :angelblush: :ninja:

Teehee... Cambridge Latin Course?

I have an offer for a Combined Studies degree in Philosophy and Religion. I'll give them a call then... I just feel a bit naughty.

Thankyou!

Well, I'm doing a classics degree at Manchester, so I almost have an excuse!

Ah, I'm sure it'll be fine. Good luck with breaking those moral boundaries!
Yeah this shouldn't be a problem at all. I was due to go to Uni 2 years ago, and went to my interview for Manchester with them thinking I was going to start in September, then I took a job and deferred for a year, (I wrote an e-mail to them and then called up the admissions office for my dept), then I found something else I wanted to do halfway through my first gap year so realised I wanted another year off, so wrote them a second pleading letter and called up admissions again and they said it was no problem and you can defer for up to 2 years. Bingo! So you should be fine!

I was wondering, do you think it's too late now to ask if my entry can be deferred? Or when is the latest it can be done?

I was sent a letter saying if you wanted to defer (for my course) now you could but it had to be done quickly (by 10th August). Thats mostly because it's an oversubscribed course so they want to know quickly if you want to defer.

My letter was course specific, not a general one,but I'm sure it's fine in the majority of departments to defer now.
