Peugeot 206 Insurance for a 17 year old

I'm thinking of getting car (peugeot 206 1.1) but the insurance is bit of a problem.

I tried getting some quotes from directline / churchill and various other sites, they either don't allow me to get a quote or it'll be something like £3000+.

Just a quick question for peugeot 206 owners, how much did your peugeot 206 cost to insure when you were 17? I wanna get an idea of how much I would be expected to pay. If it's too much then maybe I'll settle for a vauxhall corsa :frown: (as it's cheaper to insure)

also try privileged

I tried direct line, they just refuse to give me a quote unfortunately, same with churchill.

It works if I put my self as a named driver instead of the main driver, which kinda sucks.

The co-op is the best as a named driver, miles better than anything on confused.com

Confused.com sounds like a site for someone who is coming to terms with his/her sexual orientation.

I always found moneysupermarket.com or something offered me better deals in the last few years.

Admiral rocks my world.
I have the exact same car as you are talking about. It cost £930 to insure last year and £740 this year with Tesco Value insurance.

I should have said that that was with my mum and dad on the insurance as well (with speeding convictions!)

I've got a 1.4 HDI 206, with Quinn Direct it's about £1800 tpf&t  i thought it was quite good price considering I'm 17. They were the cheapest I could find, but autotrader are meant to be quite good

Thats ridiculous, im with churchill and i pay arround 2k and thats with a 1.4 verve 206, dont get a corsa :-( they are just so lame to drive, and whoever built it obviously liked to change gear alot, you cannt get anywhere with a corsa unless your in 5th lol
Wow I had no idea insurance cost that much for teenagers, how do you guys manage? I made about £1700 over the summer, looks like if I had a car it would all go on the insurance...or is it a lot cheaper for over 21's?

Edit: My quote for 1.4 VW Polo with Churchill is about £770 so that's not so bad but still.

Im 18 and got a quote on a 1.4 Peugeot 206 with in genie and it was £1800.
Hope this helps x
If you really need to drive then I would in this case recommend lying to the insurance company. Google "insurance fronting". The logic here is that insurance companies (not specifically motoring ones) will use any excuse in the book to avoid paying out, even for a genuine claim. If you can get one over on them then so much the better. However if you crash, then you are buggered because your insurance is invalid and you will be done for crashing a car without insurance.

Less practical and also less risky, but much cheaper is to try buying a bike. If you're lazy or/and fat then you can get one with electrical assistance. Commuting by bike will also help keep you fit and thin. Plus the hard earned money you saved from not having to buy petrol and expensive insurance can be used to treat yourself to some well deserved drugs.
I'm 18 and my insurance on my Peugeot is only £950 and I've only been driving 7 months. I'm with Tescos, there is a black box but there's no curfew it just monitors your driving and gives you extra miles!
