I don't know anything about how good each is in Real Estate courses, but of the list, Reading and City are probably considered the best universities.

I'm not sure which is considered the best but if you want to move to a fab city, Edinburgh is amazing! Herriot Watt is also a good university...

I'm going to be going to a university in Edinburgh too in September to do a MSc (not at Herriot Watt though), I cannot recommend the city enough, I live in London at the moment, out of the 2 I prefer Edinburgh so much more! Lots going on, cheaper than London, friendlier people, beautiful city.....!

I am assuming the Real Estate course your referring to at City University is:

MSc Corporate Real Estate Finance and Strategy

In which case I personally would DEFINATELY choose this course. This course is supposed to be a very good course and is taught at the Cass Business School, which has a very good reputation amongst employers.
C'est clair, va à City uni, elle est vraiment au dessus en plus c'est à Londres, que demande le peuple !?

No, it's the MSc Real Estate Investment. I know about Cass reputation, but it's also the most expensive one ! So, does this investment worth so much money ?! : £13,500 !!!

Listen..... Cass Bus... School is a good University but everyone knows that is overestimated. If u have no money problem go, but there are a lot others better and cheaper.
I was about to go there 4 my MSc in Finance but they asked for 18500 pounds.
It is ridiculous when Umist wants only 7000.
Think about it,aaaaaa and the cost of living in London is far too high

erm Umist is sh*te compared with Cass

Financial Times rated cass second behind London Business School in the UK, with Oxford behing them and then Cambridge.

Barclays listed their top 3 preferred MSc's and all three were Cass Masters degrees..........

It cant be that overestimated!

Ok, but don't forget the fact that Guardian has got a rate scale, Financial Times have got their rate scale.....and this thing goes on and on.
It is far more expensive Uni than many others.

yeh i must admit the guardian is very dodgey! lol
City definitely has the best reputation of those three. However, the cost is quite high, so I guess you will have to way that against other things.

Have you checked the websites of real estate companies in the UK to see where their employees come from? Where do they recruit? I think usually you will see Reading and some others.

I know BNP Paribas prefer Cass, CSFB and ABN Amro have Cass as a target school on their website and JP Morgan Fleming distuiguish City Uni from Cass on the application forms, but these are investment banks.
Friend of mine graduated a while ago from Cambridge Mphil in real estate finance and now working for a large US Ibank in real estate.

His advice -

Best courses (in order) -
1. Cambridge MPhil Real Estate Finance / CASS MSc in Real Estate Investment / Reading's MSc in Real Estate Investment / LSE in Real Estate Finance and Economics

2. Kingston - MSc in Real estate (Investment)

All the rest will be ranked below these...

Cambridge and LSE are the best academic but CASS is a good mix of academic and direct real world application - but expensive. Kingston is great value and is very similar to CASS but probably less expensive as they have less marketing overheads.. My advice is choose one in group 1 if you don't have a position with a good firm and go with Kingston if your already got an offer with a firm - that way you will be saving over £8K for same education and it will not really make that much difference once you've proved yourself after a year or 2.

All i know is that Reading has a very good reputation for Real Estate and related areas. And trust me, you don't want to go to Ulster.

Thanks a lot ! I have just become an offer from Kingston : I have applicated for the MA in Europea Real Estate (because for me as a french it is important for me to have a european vision) this course seems for me the most interesting and I am glad to hear that this school has a good reputation. Moreover it is not so expensive.
Reading told me that all their courses are full. I am now waiting on Oxford and UWE, all the others have accepted me.

A last information : is it normal that Kingston has sent an e-mail to me to told me that they will send me an offer by mail but ask me to have an interview with me ? Can this interview be a condition for me to be accepted ?
Yes, they should send you a letter of confirmation by post - interviews depend on case by case. I would take Kingston but also consider CASS. Depending on wether you want to go full time, I would look at Cambridge but the course is the most expensive but very good. Do you have a position already on offer or do you plan on starting once you finish the Masters. Which area of real estate do you plan on working in?
Feel free to send me an e-mail if you want further advice. I'm based in London and also work in Investment side of real estate.

Hello,

Thank you to propose me to send you an e-mail. Actually, I'm student at a Business School in Paris. This school is in 4 years after the "Baccalauréat" (with no prepa class before). For my fourth and last year, we have only 1 semestre of course and a training period of 6 months. So, I'm now based in Paris by Atisreal Auguste-Thouard (Weatheralls in UK), a commercial real estate services group in the industrial property consulting department. From all the universities where I have applicated, Reading told me their programme is full, and I'm waiting on UWE and especially Oxford, all the others have accepted me.
I was asked to have an interview with the Course Director from Kingston. As I think that it is not easy by phone in english I prefer go there to meet him directly. But do you have an idea about the questions they will ask me ? Only about my motivation ? Or also about my knowledge about the real estate field ? I have also write an e-mail to Oxford to propose to go there the same day in order to meet them. Do you think it's a good idea ? They don't answer me yet.
I think that now I will chose Kingston and if Oxford Brookes accept me I will accept their offer. Do you think I'm right ?
I don't know yet what I want to do in real estate : either in consulting department, or in investment or in development.
Thanks to take time to read me and for every advices that you can give me.

See you

Isabelle
