You sound like one of those idiots who says size 20 is 'curvy'.

Hardly. I respectfully refer you to my photo evidence on a previous page, y'r'honour.

edit: also the waist/hip ratio fangdangle.

Size 12 is considered fat by a lottttttt of people.

only by 5ft people who are a size 6

i work in a clothes shop where our clothes only go up to a 16. i had a woman in the other day who wanted to buy a dress which we did not have in a size 16, only a 14. she was about my height (5ft11) and i said to her that i genuinely thought she would be ok with a 14, however when she tried it, it was too small. this woman was pretty much skin and bone.

Hmmm =/ Well I'm generally a size 12/14 (more 14's), 34E and I have (in my opinion) a MASSIVE arse. I personally see myself as fat, but I'm accepting of myself. You shouldn't need to open a thread to ask whether your fat or not, it's what you think and no-one else that matters.

8-12 is good

Wow, this board is definitely making me want to diet - and i used to think size 10 was fine D:
imo, 16 is fat, but judging from the picture of you, you dont actually look like a size 16..

above size 6 = fat.

I knew it.

Reply 127

imo size 14+

BUT some girls really can wear size 14 a lot better than some wear size 8s, it all depends on the person.

Skinny fat = :puke:
Trust me :colonhash:

Fat or thin, who cares? The question you need an answer to is whether or not you are over weight. If you are then sort it out, if not then chillax

For a bit of inspiration and hope, pic shown before but not the story, see this news clip

it's.a.science
they're not lame, but i value ur opinion.
u clearly just don't get them or u r totally misunderstanding me and not bothering to try to understand what i am trying to say.
so instead of being rude prehaps **** off. kk?

trust me. i know all the 'BASIC' information. i know a lot about dieting and weight loss and nutrition etc...

i know that when ur blood glucose level is to high your pancreas is stimulated to secrete insulin. this causes the conversion of soluble glucose into insoluble glycogen (in cells) creating fat.

if u stop eating carbs...u loose this 'fat' in the cells due to a low blood sugar being created and therefore the secretion of glucagon causing glycogenolysis which produces glucose...this can then be used in metabolic pathways.
if u start eating mega carbs again. u will put on weight as ur blood glucose level will drastically increase. to much glucose will be in ur body that can be used up and u will regain the fat that u just lost...

find fault? explain it - don't insult it......please......

what is amusing is whilst what you have posted is accurate it's irrelevant

my point was, insulin sensitivity was about how much insulin your body produces to a given number of carbs

and this can be blunted by the amount of carbs you eat i.e. if you eat loads, over time u'll need more n more

BUT if you lower it for a while and do other dietary stuff, you can improve insulin sensitivty so adding carbs back in won't "make you fat again"

so where exactly are you learning all this 'diet stuff' is what you sprout isn't complete/relevant?

I'm a size 12 and 5'7. Sometimes people moan on the fashion boards if they are a size 12 or above, that they cant wear skirts because they are "chubby/fat", which makes me feel bad because it makes me question my own choices. Like I'll start thinking, should I be wearing this? Do I look repulsive?? I get good attention when I wear skirts (rather than "ewww", lol), but because of girls a similar size complaining, it makes me want to lose weight and get down to a 10- just in case.
My point is, any size can be fat to SOMEBODY.
If you aren't comfortable, change it. The key to losing weight is very simple, the difficulty is having the motivation and keeping it off.

Thank you ^^;

I know I'm not going to be a size 8/10. Definately going to spur on and try and lose some though/tone up.

**btw size 10 aint fat.

I'm a size 16, and though sometimes I feel ok about it, others I detest it. I've been trying to lose weight for ages, but its really hard to shift.

Is this fat? Bearing in mind its the UK average (apparently)

*Please Anon this or delete*

imo, as a size 10 sometimes 12 female generally speaking (although it depends on height + physique etc)
4-6 is too small/skinny
8 is slim but normal (ie not usually unhealthy)
10-12 is just normal, maybe a bit more skiiny or big depending on body shape and height etc
14-16 is chubby, getting kinda fat
and 16+ is fat

it depends on the person tbh and how tall you are

i agree that any size can be fat, im about the same height and size of u, and while i dont think id think u were fat if i saw you, sometimes i feel fat myself. so even if friends who are the same size as me seem skinny/fine, for me to be the same size i feel fat..

and op good luck with any weight loss, hopefully you will feel better about yourself too. ive started going running to try and lose a bit of fat but not neccesarily weight so hopefully il see some results soon!
i think its probs best to go by how you look and feel rather than weight or clothes sizes

This is so true. I'm a size 10, used to be a skinny little thing in size 8s until I got my girl lumps - which means cause of my hips n boobs I have to wear size 10s. But lately I have been getting a bit of fat on my arms and tum and I don't like it at all; it doesn't look right on my figure. This hasn't put men off, but I personally don't like it.
It's like that photo someone put up of a men's ideal size being size 12, and women's being size 8. I can see how that would be true.

This is a stupid argument. There is no size limit as to what suddenly transforms you into being fat or not. I know two people who are size 16, they have totally different body shapes, height etc. One of them I would consider overweight while the other I wouldnt. Different people carry weight differently.
Personally I am a size 12, would ideally like to be a size 10 but I like food too much. I exercise to keep my size from going up and to keep fit.
At the end of the day its all down to opinion. A fitness fanatic would probably think my size 12 was obese, thats because they have probably trained themselves not to go over a size 8 or whatever.
