It's bad for your body (digestive system) I think, as it stimulates secretion of precursor proteases, when there is no food to digest.

My biology teacher said that can cause stomach ulcers. So I only chew it after meals sometimes.

In my 20yrs of existence so far - i have NEVER bought chewing gum from a shop...and have only ever chewed gum about three-four times - when i was young and had "screwball-scramble" ice-creams - i find people chewing gum a real turn off...just one of my pet hates.

Which is also the reason why you feel hungry after lots of chewing gum

Happy childhood memories...playing in my backyard with friends...ice cream van comes, then follows the screwball

But it drove me nuts, yes, lovely whippy ice-cream and strawberry sauce, but i don't want the chewing gum ball! Arggg

dont know if anyone's already mentioned this (im too lazy to check ) but studies show that you're more likely to do well on an exam if you're chewing gum. i dont know exactly how much more likely and i doubt that it'd be enough to make that much of a difference in your grade but its a handy excuse when my dentist starts lecturing me ........

Chewing too long produces laxative effects.

It says so on the back of packets of blue 'Extras' anyway

I like the taste when you first chew but as soon as the flavour goes it's horrible, it's like chewing a piece of rubber all day! and it would be a bit silly to buy a pack, chew for 30 seconds and spit out..."
