true that, easier realising the pointlessness of life
But with that realisation the suicide shouldn't be terrible for the person in question I guess, only for the people close to the person

oh wtf, I dunno what to say, that's really bad. It reminds me of a girl in my neighbour class, who committed suicide last year. :frown:

this is very sad, i had a girl in my neighbour class, which was exactely like him, she jumped from the 6th floor, and her sister was watching her jumping, but couldn´t hold her back......i think these people, do things to show us that they need help, but noone realises and after they die, we ask ourselves, why have we been so selfish and didn´t pay enough attention

Reply 11

That really is very sad indeed :frown:

There is a student support service for anyone suffering from stress/anxiety/depression. I suppose it is hard to make the first step in contacting them though. We need to look out for each other!

Reply 13

did anyone at imperial know the guy?
i just read the article, man he seemed like a genius.

Reply 14

He was being treated for his depression (anti-depressants) and had seen a psychiatrist but evidently his support network wasn't strong enough.

acording to his family, they didn't know he was depressed until his suicide - so i've read

:frown: very sad to read about this.

'Students on his course had felt guilty for their treatment of Mr Chan and one had sent him a text message saying: “Sorry for being so rude to you.” But the teenager never read the message, which was found unopened by his parents after his death'

Those students must be goin through alot aswel right now !

Very tragic , for parents to have a child who was very very clever and what they must have thought of as a great son and to find out about all his misseries after he commited suicide :frown: :dong:

yeah, his doctor couldn't share his problems with his family, the best she could do was to advise him to do so.

Trust me it was a one off, Imperial is not bad... in fact it is really social.. and if he was living alone in a flat in his first year and was a child genius it may be the case that he did not have much social maturity and thus, the tragic occured.
don't be put off in coming here!!!!
