Yeahh, Warrington's great (I live there).
My grandma lives in a place called Fearnhead, which is literally right next to Padgate.
Vulcan Close and Valiant Close have quite a bad reputation if you're thinking of living there though ... it's a council estate - not that that's necessarily a bad thing!
Even though Gary Newlove was murdered in Padgate last year, the guys who did it came from St. Helen's anyway (to the north west of Warrington), so that's not really representative of Padgate itself.
Padgate High is a fairly rubbish school, and I think that there was talk of closing it down at some stage.
I quite often go to a choir in Padgate called WMS (Warrington Musical Society) - it's really good.
If you need to know anything more, like which shops are on the Insall Road, or anything really, just ask!

Hey, sorry I'm late in replying.
If you want a fast response, please quote!!

Vulcan Close is alright really because it's in a generally decent area.
Just watch out for the people in the very close vicinity, neighbours ... they might be heavy druggies!

Yeah, are you going to the University's Padgate campus, just about 10 mins walk away from Vulcan Close?
If so, it's the 24(A), the only one linking Vulcan Close to the campus.

As for buses into the town centre, you can get:

23 or 23A (every 15 minutes)
http://www.warringtonboroughtransport.co.uk/tables_pdf/23%20TT.pdf

24 (every half hour)
http://www.warringtonboroughtransport.co.uk/tables_pdf/24%2024A%20TT.pdf

27 (evenings every 2 hours[!], Sundays)
http://www.warringtonboroughtransport.co.uk/tables_pdf/25%20TT.pdf

You can see a map of all of these here:
http://www.warringtonboroughtransport.co.uk/tables_pdf/25%20Map.pdf

As you can probably see though, the 25(A,C) and 26 do run fairly close [not 25B!], as do the 28(A) and 4(A), but you'll probably find the above sufficient.

If you do want to go straight from town to the campus, you can catch the 24(A) or 25(C), and the 28(A) runs pretty darned close (get off just before the "Birchwood Way". For evenings and weekends, there are the 26 and 27 which combine to run roughly once per hour.

Here are hyperlinks for 28(A), and see 27 above for details on the 26.

28(A) (every 30 minutes)

If you need any more stuff, you can find loads here:
http://www.warringtonboroughtransport.co.uk/indexnew.htm
And timetables and route maps are all available here:

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't worry about Padgate to be honest, the only real problematic areas of Warrington are Orford and Howley. As placenta said, Fearnhead & Padgate are nice places to live - i live not far away in Birchwood.

Warrington in general is a cool place, good night out, lots of shops and restaurants and most importantly an awesome Rugby League Team.

Any time!
Hope the move goes well
Vulcan Close is ok apart from the underage girls who look about 13 or 14 chatting you up! I lived there but had a loud flatmate who argued constantly with other flatmate who worked night shift and complained about how poor she was despite coming from a well off family and doing part time work getting £8 a hour AND travel expenses, she got about £800 from her parents each month and spent it within a week!

When I moved there a week later some kids managed to get into our garden by a broken bit of fence and my flatmate went out and shouted at them so they ran off and came back minutes later and smashed our kitchen window in and if you dont lock your wheelie bin to the wall or to a pipe they are stolen and burned down.

Apart from that its fine except the houses on Vulcan and Valiant have paper thin walls, you hear entire conversations downstairs and upstairs(hence the flatmates arguing) and get cold in winter.

Lil meesh where abouts are you going to live in Vulcan? I am moving to a new place in Vulcan as LL wants to move an entire family into the place im staying now so maybe we will be at same flat(since theres only about 6 different houses there owned by student landlords) PM me.
