i don't know of any medical schools that have sent out specific book lists ahead of term..

mainly perhaps because the lists will be so huge! alas there is no single "medicine" text books - I've found it's all be about relevant chapters from a core of 30 or so books on my shelf...

& often these books are incredibly expensive (e.g. medium sized texts ~£30-40) so I've avoided buying any myself - obviously this will depend on your library facilities.

but i would say before you do buy anything, make sure you have a read through the different options for that particular subject because format can vary quite dramatically & some styles suit different people.

your med. school might also have 2nd hand book sales, which could help save some money - but certain subjects (notably genetics & pathology!) will probably need more recent books right from the off.

i know this doesn't exactly answer your Q, but hope it might be of some help anyway.
