Accidently gave wrong national insurance number - anyone else done this?

Today I had my introduction to the place I have just secured a job. I took my ID, bank details but I forgot my national insurance card with the number on it so I guessed it. I think I had the correct numbers but some numbers were in the wrong order but I'm not sure.

Will I still get paid? Will I still be able to work there? I am only planning on staying there for eight weeks at the most so I wondered if I should just leave it, or if anyone else has done the same thing what happened etc.
Why would you leave it? Check the number on the card, and tell your employer so they can change it if you did indeed write it wrongly in the first place.

You need to get it changed, else any NI contributions you make while in employment wont be logged onto your own personal account and may cause problems in the future.
It's fairly important. Call your employer and ask them to change it.

But I'm not going to be making NI contributions, my wage is too low. I can't see why it matters.

You should tell your employer your number as soon as you know it
Your employer will use it to make sure the NICs you pay are recorded on your NIC account. These earn you entitlement to benefit. If your employer does not have the correct National Insurance number then there could be a delay in establishing how much benefit you should get when you claim.

Everyone has a different NI. I'm actually wondering what the confusion would be if you had accidently submitted someone else's NI no.

I work in a place that deals with NI numbers and we often have to direct them that the NI conts they made may not be valid, we just have to give them a number to phone to get it resolved.

Even so your employer is recorded on your account. Its effectively a password to all of your personal information so its important you get it correct, or as I say, you may have problems in the future.
Hello, I have been working for starbucks for nearly a month, and my payday is approaching, but I might not get an NI number because my visa was made with a mistake - it said 'no work except work placement'.
I told my friend, and she offered me her NI number because she quit working and she is never going to work again.
Can I use it then? I mean I will tell her that I will get paid how much amount on my payday, and then she can get it on her account and hand the money to me either cash or transfer.
We have different names though, nevermind the passport and BRP.
but my question is, if she's never going to work again, and she hands me the money, would I get caught? I know that it is illegal, but would my boss know that I am using someone else's?
<To anyone who is going to tell me off: please don't chastise me if you are not going to give an advice that I NEED, because we don't owe anything to each other, we don't know each other, and you would be making a futile attempt.>
your not legally allowed to work if your visa states "no work" so not only are you breaking immigration rules your committing fraud and you will get found out as it will get flagged up at the tax office once they realise you have been working and using someone elses national insurance number both you and your friend will be in SERIOUS trouble!
