I do BA Linguistics, bit of a niche subject. It's basically language science, rather than actually learning languages. Although I did a 20 credit module in Japanese, which was interesting.
Also, although this is not official policy, it's openly understood that all A-Level's are not created equally. For example comparing 2 A-Level's I did, English Language and German, one had two exams and two pieces of coursework, while the other had two courseworks, 4 different exams and a speaking test. Admissions tutors are not supposed to be biased in this way, but they do seem to make allowences for this.
