The Student Room Group

Sleep, constantly tired, headaches...

When I wake up, I'm always still tired, and I always have a headache. Some days it goes away, some it doesn't. I got lots of sleep last night because it's Sunday and the only day I can lie in. But I'm still yawning and got a nasty headache. Seeing as I've got exams soon, this isn't good.

It's not that the room's too hot, because I have my window slightly ajar some nights and at any rate, it doesn't get hot when there's no sun.

Anyone know:
*how to fix headaches?
*how to not be sleepy apart from proplus?
*how to get a good night's sleep and wake up feeling refreshed?

Thankyou!

those eye masks are quite good at making you feel refreshed after waking up. they relax the muscles around the eyes and make you feel more alert.
If you are constantly getting headaches, however, I would go see a doctor about it as it may be something to do with your diet, or the way you are sleeping, etc.

*how to fix headaches? - Drink plenty of water.

*how to not be sleepy apart from proplus? - go to the docs for blood-tests to find out why you're so tired.

paracetomal fixes headaches. your probably getting them from revision - doing lots of reading etc, i know i do. i dont know what to suggest about lack of sleep and tiredness. i get that sometimes. maybe you have a virus or something.

I went to the doctor feeling like that and I've just been diagnosed with glandular fever. I am on the mend now but I had nasty headaches and I was sleeping all saturday night, all sunday and all sunday night and still feeling like I had had no sleep come Monday morning. Go see your doctor especially with exams coming up, if you do have glandular fever or anything she/he can write you a letter x x x

Exactly the same with me!!!!!! Well, probably not as serious because it doesn't happen all the time and I don't notice most times.

I'm just lazy I think, as I have no routine. That's the problem with me.

That's quite scary! I've been to the docs to have blood tests to find out why I'm tired all the time, having to sleep when I get home from school etc, I get the results on Wedns and I'm really worried now you've mentioned glandular fever!

I have to go straight to sleep when I get home from school too! Well if you have, you need to tell your school/college/uni as soon as possible....mine have been so helpful and understand that doing homework or revision on a weeknight is impossible for me. Don't worry if you do have it though! I've been eating lots of rich foods, drinking plenty of water and jersey milk, taking multi-vitamins and just building up exercise slowly. x x x

vodka helps keep you awake as long as you dont drink too much at one time.

Do you wear glasses? If not, go and get your eyes tested - that's a prime cause of headaches, especially if you have been revising a lot!

It's been going on since January, I need to sleep now but I have work to do so I can't. I can't afford to be ill before my exams, but my college isn't going to be very helpful, the science department in particular have a bad attitude, refusing extra help to a friend of mine with M.E. who desperately wants to pass her chemistry AS and despite the fact she failed her mock they wouldn't even photocopy the markscheme for her!

Yeah I had been going to the doctor on/off for ages about being tired but it got really bad over the easter hols. You need to go directly to the exams co-ordinator or your form tutor with a letter if it turns out you have something.
