This is BS, don't miss your freshers ball. You're only a (true) fresher once! Ok, it's not as good as the summer ball, but it doesn't cost £40 - and is your first chance to get dressed up at uni!
Wow, four whole posts and two of them dedicated to quoting me? I feel so honoured.

Like hell is is BS, the summer ball is LOADS better, like miles and miles. The Freshers' ball is just like any other union night, except the guys wear suits and the majority of girls wear dresses. It's not that I have no enthusiasm for freshers' week, it's just that I have a realistic view of what it's like. Unless Mummy and Daddy don't mind paying through the nose for you to end up with alcohol poisoning at the end of the week, it's not the bee all and end all of university life.

    Gotta love it really

But seriously, surely most 18 year old lads own a suit by now lol? It's not that expensive.

Fresher's week is probably the only time u can go out every night without havin that horrible feelin of havin to get up early for lectures!

Yes durin the day it does get a bit boring cos u hav to queue up for all the admin stuff like id and that but it does giv u time to bond with ur hall mates so its all good.

And fresher's ball its a good chance to socialise with jus freshers, its good i wud def recommend gettin tickets for it!!

Enjoy freshers week cos trust me, unless ur doin a dos course, ur never gonna get another chance to jus go recklessly wild!!

fair enough, but would you mind not putting a damper on it for everyone else? your 'realism' is getting painful to read.

3 now, get over it. You do realise that you're not limited to the amount of balls that you can attend? Do em all innit.

I didn't say it was better than the summer ball. But freshers haven't experienced the summer ball yet.

Realistic view? You mean your personal opinion... my personal opinion and all of my friend's opinions are that it was one of the best weeks of my first year, and you should definitely go to the freshers ball.

Now lets not dwell on your bad experiences.

Dude, what's the tennis and squash courts like at the Uni? I've only had a glimpse of the tennis courts, which seemed pretty decent. And alsoooo lol, where abouts in Kent were/are you from may I ask?

I agree - ok so the freshers ball may be a little cheesy but that's half the fun! Touchwood i'll be going to reading and there is no way i'll spend my friday night inside with a cup of tea because it may be a little under par - it's the people you'll be with who will result in you having a good time.
