i haven't even finished my a'levels yet, let alone done an undergrad degree, but was wondering, if i went to durham to do theology and philosophy, could i then do a post grad degree at st andrews? e.g. an MA (i know BA in England = called MA in St Andrews, so if i did a post grad i wouldnt get an MA from st andrews - i would get something else) - but is that possible to do that? and how long would it take to do a post grad degree?

thanks

It depends on what you register for, you could get an MA or an MLitt or an MPhil or PhD. You can have more than one degree of the same abbreviation (i.e. MA MA). A Theology degree from St Andrews is actually an MTheol for your info.

I'm assuming you mean that after the BA degree at Durham, you want to go to the 4th year at St. Andrews to achieve a MA. If that is the case, I think it's possible, and you need a 2:1 degree classification or above.

Is what you are trying to do a BA (3 years) from Durham and then a postgraduate Master's course at St Andrews? If that is the case that should be possible as long as you get the grades, i.e. a 2:1 (probably, in most cases). The one-year postgrad masters at St Andrews aren't called MA, but I think they are called MLitt (in many cases) - or maybe MTheol in the case of Theology as someone pointed out (not sure whether that's for the four-year Scottish undergrad course or the one-year grad course).
