    Ever century has its exciting bits, I suppose.

    And it depends on who you are. If you were an artist or thinker the Renaissance must have been pretty cool, but for most people - who lived in hovels and tilled the soil all day and died of plague aged 29 - it probably wasn't all it's cracked up to be.

    For the record, I would much rather be living in ancient Greece and studying under Aristotle/Socrates etc than living in today with our MTV culture.
    1) They were alive at different times.

    2) If you were a philosopher in Ancient Athens you'd probably complain a great deal about those frivolous plays which are distracting the masses from higher things.... and worrying about the Spartans/Macedonians/Romans who keep on taking over the city.
