Ok so I am all set to go to uni, chosen the uni im going to etc. and received confirmation from the uni in question.

    But what happens now?

Do they contact you again before we start in September?

Just wasnt sure what the deal was, do they send you a schedule for freshers week etc?

Do they tell you what books you need before you start or do you wait until you arrive?

Also, student finance...when do they make first payment to you?

Have you applied for accommodation and finance? Did the confirmation letter say anything?

You should probably receive more information before September-often you will receive a reading list via email or through the post. Or if you haven't sorted it out already accommodation information is likely to come.

I believe Student Finance make your first payment at the beginning of the first term/semester although I'm a bit puzzled about this as I don't know when they pay you so you can pay your rent etc...

You only get your student loan when your uni have told them you have arrived. You'll register at the uni and will then receive your loan a few days later. This is why most uni accommodation doesn't expect you to make any payment until a few weeks into term; if you're renting privately or do have early payment dates then contact whoever you pay rent to to explain this if it's a problem.
