Any Army Girl/Boy friends??

Is there anyone here who has a partner in the army? Iv been looking for support but not found much in the uk. Got any advice you wanna share, i could help you to maybe!!

My ex boyfriend joined the navy. We were really in love and we split up cos of him being away so much. But we're still in touch and maybe things will change...well I know what you're going through anyway. It's really hard, especially cos they don't really get to choose where they go or when their hols are.

well me and my fella split when he first joined up, we got back together after two years cos we still loved each other. What would your advice be for a army gf!!

my ex was in the RAF, we were together 18 months but he got a 3 year posting to Las Vegas. I'm 18 (only 17 when he left) so we split up.

My only advice is keep as much contact as you can. You do have to make more of an effort but it'll be worth it.

My ex is in the army n I met him not long before he had to go back to Iraq. He was out there for 7 weeks n I thought about him all the time, everytime the news came on, there seemed to be another car bomb over there n i was so worried about him. He phoned me at least twice a week and we wrote letters to each other and stuff, n it was lovely :smile:

...but once he came home, he was like a totally different person...im not sure if he saw something out there that upset him or whatever (which wouldnt surprise me from what he's told me about the place), but he'd really changed. I think it also had something do to with the fact that he couldn't have any alcohol when he was out there, so when he came home, he just went out n got really really drunk every night. It's such a shame, because I really liked him :frown:

I saw him not long ago n he told me that he's now been posted in afghanistan...

i hope this doesn't put you off, just thought I'd share it with you :smile:

I think we could have made it work, but he just didn't like me as much as I liked him...if only i'd known...could have saved me 7 weeks of waiting and worrying..never mind eh?

All my life until about 5 years ago my dad was in the army, it is a good life and you get to travel, ive lived all over the uk and in germany. I know what has kept my mam going was the support network of people in the same situation. If you stay wit him and decide to get married you will find that everything you are feeling, someone else has been through. Until you do or if you decide not to marry, find out if any of the people your partner is with have girlfriends in your area, even if you just get a phone number it'll be someone to moan to who understands. I think that is the most important thing alot of the time, understanding.
