    Hey Guys,

I am working with kids this summer and we are having a pirate theme day in the next few days.

I need some ideas of what different competitions I could do for

Quads, Crate Climbing, and Air Rifles.

Also what arts and crafts stuff can the kids make?

    All help is appreciated

You could put them in teams and one has to be dressed like a pirate - makeup and all - and judge the best.
Who can down a pint of juice the quickest.
Treasure hunt with choc coins and jewellery.
Map stuff (X marks the spot) to find a treasure chest (you could put them in 2 teams to do this and time who gets the chest back the quickest).
Make stuff out of art straws, like a ship, treasure chest, pirate etc.
Make a collage of out things that they can find.
Design a ship, and judge whose is the best.
Races (relay, running backwards, skipping, walking, sidestepping, leapfrogging, crawling army-style, piggyback and so on). You could make this interesting by making them run around a stick like in drinking games.
    Dance-off.. Maybe..
2 teams, 2 colours (or however many). Letters are hidden or stuck on trees/walls. They have to collect all of the letters and work out the word. Quickest team wins.
Raft building, like in Menai, if you've ever been.

We had a thinking day with Guides a couple of years back where he had to come in pirate costumes and win a prize for the best one.
Make hooks out plastic cups, tinfoil wrapped around them and then a pipecleaner punched through the top of the cup.
Get some face paints too so there can all have beards and scars
    Have fun!
