Personally, I'd want an S3 or a Focus RS given the choice.

the only one that's a hot hatch really is the vxr, but I agree that the last batch (up til the early part of this year) were beautiful

Yeah but who here would seriously spend 25 grand on a new focus rs or a similar hot-hatchback. For most of us it's just a dream.

I hate Clios, they look ok, but they're a terrible drive.
:nah: Handling is the clio's forte.

"The 182bhp 2 litre engine pulls with planetary torque from low revs and sings power ballads at the top end, but the car’s real party piece is its handling. It seems to go round any corner at whatever speed takes your fancy." - Clarkson

"The Clio Trophy is a highly accomplished hot hatch on the road and track." - autoexpress

"The Trophy feels completely at home pushing hard through more challenging corners.....and allows corners to be taken at what would be a truly frightening lick in lesser hatches." - 4 Car

see I've been a passenger in a trophy, and it was absolutely manic, handled like a total go-kart, would have run rings around my ZS, but just not for me though.. no idea why..

Suprised tbh. The passenger seats not where you wanna be.

Drive one. You'll get out with a smile on your face. Surely thats the whole point. I'm not suggesting its the best hot-hatch ever. I just think for the previous poster to call it a terrible drive is very harsh.

yeah didnt get a chance to have a go 2bh, but even from a passengers point of view I was very impressed, which is very rare for me to say about a hatch! more just bias on my point, I'm not usually a fan. do agree that its harsh but I guess I need to reserve judgement

no way is the best hot hatch a seat or audi!!! It's got to either be a golf gti (mk1) or french (clio williams, pug gti etc). Focus rs would probably get a look in too though

The K1 is the fastest, although I prefer the looks of the FR models.

Alternatively it would have to be:

    or

I'd drop the Escort Cosworth in there too if I didn't have enough pictures already!
