I want to change my GP. Obviously my documents with medical info will have to be transferred to the new practice but I don't want my GP to see what new practice I'm going to. How do I go about doing this?

Your medical records are probably kept electronically and so will be automatically transferred once you register your details with a new practice.
If anyone was to see which new GP you were going to, it would most likely be admin staff at your old GP rather than your actual doctor so don't fret

Thanks but I'm still not reassured. the old gp practice will get a request from the new gp. Even if the assistent sends the files, will she not tell the gp patient x's files need to be sent to y because I doubt the assistent has access to my medical files.

Trust me they do, the doctor isnt the only person who has access to those files.

    Why are you worried?

Even if they did know where you are going im sure it wouldnt be an issue, as they are only going to be doing what is best in the patients interest, if there is something specific you are avoiding it may be better to talk to your current GP about it then running away and avoiding it with another.

Even if your current GP finds out, what's (s)he going to do about it? Hunt you down and drag you back lol? I'm sure they wouldn't give it a moment's thought.

I understand most GPs would rather patients who want to change surgeries actually go.
