good way to ask?

there's this girl who i really like, who i have known for quite a while, we have not really talked that much over that time, but recently we have talked quite a lot more, and had some good conversations. anyway, i asked her a while ago if she wanted to do something, however she said she did not, i want to ask her again fairly soon as we will not be in the same area much longer, however she is very difficult to contact, thus making it only possible to do so in person. i was thinking about asking her one day after she has finished work in person, would this be advisable, is there a better way to do so?

I think we might need more specifics, but I don't see anything wrong with a "Hi, wanna go to the cinema next week?" or something similar.
