Drink water and wash the alcohol out of your system. Freshen up with a cool (ish) shower and take it easy for the rest of the day. Just keep drinking water...

It was my 18th yesterday and I got completely ratted. I mean really ratted, I couldn't walk and now have bruises all over my knees! I still feel crap now, so my question is [albeit a leel late] - does anyone know of a good hangover remedy?

Sorry to say this, but you're too late! The best cure is to drink plenty of water while you're drinking alcohol, and straight afterwards - ie. before you go to bed...

I dont know if this is true, but it helps me: eat bread.

I presume the bread soakes up the alcohol in your stomach, so its the bread holding it and not you. Even though the bread is still inside you. Though as I said above-water is your best bet...

this is what works for me... (normally i'm so drunk that i was probably sick the night before but can't remember)

start the day in the afternoon with a fried breakfast - possibly be sick afterwards due to mixing of grease and alcohol. drink lots of cups of tea
be a bit more sick and have lots of water
at about 2pm have a huge sam smileys. possibly be sick after this depending on whether room has stopped spinning yet
nice relaxing afternoon of sitting in tv room with several bottles of water and LOTS of moaning and paracetamol
evening meal should include lots of fat and grease - chips are good. try not to be sick now.
more water in the evening, some hot chocolate and an early night snuggled up with a sympathetic fitty

if the hangover continues into the next day, repeat the process with healthier food.

seeing as it's now the evening...drink as much water as you can, have two paracetamol and two ibuprofen (they work together without being an overdose apparently), and go to bed.

WHAT THE?!?! ARE YOU NUTS?!??! LOL

They don't want a heartattack! lol. Throwing up constantly isn't good for you, unless you naturally want to throw up! Trust me! Your abusing your body SOOOO much by doing the above! :frown:

prevention rather than cure is the best course of action.

Next time have a berrocca tablet before you go to bed. It gives you a huge dose of vitamin C (don't be scared if your urine is fluorescent in the morning) and minimises/prevents a hangover.

Don't drink water until you've stopped feeling sick! If you're able to stay at home, I'd say don't put anything in your system until about midday if you got really drunk the night before, or you'll just throw it right back up. Drinking water is important, but not until the afternoon/evening.

And if you drink several large glasses of water before you go to bed after a night out, you can almost eradicate any hangover symptoms whatsoever. Just for future reference!
A meal beforehand is good, but if you can't do that or if you're anything like me (i.e. can't find your way to the tap when you get home for water). Drink loads of water the morning after and order a massive fry-up breakfast in bed. while watching the best trashy childrens telly you can find.
Hmm, I used to be a bit of a drinker, but I ALWAYS used to wake up in the morning, boiling hot and my heart beating really fast.. not nice, so I gave it up on friday night and haven't touched a drop since .. 2 whole days - and counting!!:biggrin:

before you go to bed after a night out, drink as close to 2 litres of water as you can... you may find this makes you sick, but either way, it gives your head a break the morning after... my friends swear by muddy puddles... coca cola and orange juice, which looks foul, but the caffeine/vit C/sugar combination apparantly does the trick... i usually find i crave bacon or macdonalds or the like the next day... it sorts me out.. apart from that, neurofen and water is the way to go...

I am so glad I don't get hangovers.

You clearly don't drink enough. I used to think I didn't get hangovers but the more often I drink the more I get them. I guess it's my body's way of telling me that it doesn't like my drinking habits. The best cure is getting through lots of water beefore bed but apart from that all you can do is sleep it off and eat a fry-up.

It's true, water is the only way. You're supposed to have 2 glasses of water for every alcoholic drink consumed!! I always, always carry a bottle of water in my bag with me wherever I go!

the being sick part isn't a choice. i do try to drink myself into addenbrookes to be fair.

if i'm seriously up for getting smashed, if i havent passed out by 12 then it's not a good night.

if it's a medium alcohol night, then i'll probably be sick sometime during the evening.

i guess it's cambridge culture because i never did that at home.
