I'll be in Oxford (UK) this week for a few hours. Can anyone tell me of cool things to see or do in town? I'd love to visit a library at the university (I'm a huge nerd haha). Would that be possible?

    Thanks for any info!

erm not sure about the library
if its sunny, go to university parks, its amazing, massive and very relaxing. visit G and Ds ice cream, its like oxfords own ben and jerrys. The covered market is always worth exploring, and if you are with mates consider going punting as well.

You can go walk around the outside of Bodleian, but you cant go in I don't think, reserved for the uni academics only.

Go visit the Castle if youre interested in that type of thing: theres usually quite a bit going on down there
Also just walking about the streets around broad street is really nice, lots of college buildings, and nice alleyways and pubs and stuff

Punting is worth a go. Uni parks are great, get some sarnies and hit the parks for a picnic if it's sunny. There's lots of touristy things like the Camera Obscura and some of the university colleges open their grounds for people to walk around (but Cambridge is better for that cos you can walk along the back of all the colleges by the river)
The libraries are quite tough because you have to fill out a form if you aren't from the university.

You have to apply for a readers card to get into the Bodleian or any of the uni libraries. And you can't apply more than once every 6 years lol (not that they're picky about who they let in...)

The walking tours are excellent. There's a link here - you can pre-book in advance. I don't recommend the bus tours though.

Unless you're a student (or know one!) or else have a legitimate reason (e.g. visiting scholar), it's difficult to get inside the college buildings, including libraries. Some colleges have parts of their grounds open though, e.g. Christ Church.

Punting along the Isis (Thames) is also fun - you can hire these at Magdalen Bridge.
