uh, we don't all get 14a*s.

those who do decide to do some other subjects, and just learn the stuff and do it.

14A*s is just mad.lol
Some of those people go to grammar/boarding/private schools where GCSE's are sometimes taught from year 9 (coz they miss the SATS) and if your paying 15 grand a year to get educated, expect nothing less than 14A*s!!
I got 1A* 6A 1B 3C, my cousin sister, who goes slough grammar school got 10A* 1A!!

Only 11, sorry. It comes from answering the questions correctly.

EDIT: State school, by the way.

Not always 15 grand...Some schools are far less, some far more. As far as I'm aware, very few schools do 14...11, 12 and maybe even 13, but 14 is a little more unusual. Nobody at my school does more than 11, except for people who do extras outside school, for example a girl who's part Greek did Greek etc. I think beyond a certain number, GCSEs don't really help you that much...

I think I know of only one person on this forum who has 14 A*s. And, like I say, I know of them...I don't know them. It's a highly unlikely possibility, but I guess if you're generally rather bright, and in addition, work hard, it's achievable. 5 As and 3 Cs is "pretty good", but why are you only doing 8? Our school does 10, and I thought that was the minimum?!

14 A*s!!!! I tell you, this is not normal!! Although i'd say it is achievable, I know OF someone who got 15 A* in a private school. I'd think you have to be naturally really clever, because if your average (like me) no amount of revision will get you 14/15 A*'s, the workload will be huge and you'd have to completely understand 95% (or 99% just to make sure) of every subject perfectly. If your an average student, I think that at least some A*'s can be attainable, such as 6-7 if you work hard.

is it just me,or does 14a*'s sound mad?im pred 5a's 3c's nd i think ths pretty gud...but what ive been reading thru makes me wonder if it is...u lot r jus C.L.E.V.E.R 2 the maxxxx!!!!how does sum1 get even 10A*'s my cuz gt 8A*'s i thought tht was v.gud bt now i hear 14....damn!!!

Get a life? Go out more? I'm not trying to sound overly critical, but it can't be helped. For a start, as you've already been predicted 8 A-Cs. It not only suggests that you are 6 GCSEs short, but also that you haven't a cat's chance in hell of getting straight A*s. You can cram all you like, it's just not going to happen. You're already predicted good grades, just try to improve on them. Setting your goals high is all very well and good, but not if they're completely unattainable.

At the end of the day, GCSEs do not mean all that. Employers & unis aren't going to be preoccupied with them. As long as you come out with a good range of subjects, and within a decent range of grades, all will be fine.

i attended local comprehensive and got 12 A* and im no genius.

comon people, GCSE qualification is pretty easy.

just imagine your life depends on the result.

if you do that, youlll probably manage something like 15 x 100 %
Reply 13
Do you really not have a life? Well done on those results.

personally, i think an array of a's and b's is good....
remember that just over 50 % of the country leave with 5 A*-C grades!!!
ok it may have increased slightly...

11A*s is enough.lol.
well I am doing 12, some other tongue because i m half by nationality of the nation who speak that tongue.also i self teach stats and my ICT counts as double GCSE.
BUt then again u dont need 14 gcses. 10 or 9 will be enough as long as u get A*s As and Bs.
wish me luck i ve got ict exam 2day.

There are some pretty good state schools out there, some are better than many private schools.

some private schools are ****, especially non-selective ones.
Some people are very clever and hence capable of getting 14 A*s, however once you get to A-level, your GCSE's count for very little in comparison anyway. They do count...but not greatly. Some people of course are probably lying because they have an inferiority complex (i know for a fact that there are a couple of people on here who have lied about results because they didnt want to seem less intelligent) seems silly to me, but hey, what do I know.

Yeah everyone's like GCSE's are the most important but i recon it's A levels tbh, they are what will get you further
