I love how Earth completely reinvented their sound with that album, and even managed to surpass all of their previous works with it. The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull is also excellent, but I think Hex just beats it because it evokes some better atmospheres and it never feels like it's longer than it should be (which I think Bees suffers from).

Still haven't heard Pocahaunted, but they're high on my list of groups to explore. There's a lot of interesting psychedelic music coming from LA and Portland at the moment, anyway, much of it criminally overlooked. Barn Own, Grouper, Eternal Tapestry and Heavy Winged are a few of my favorites.
yeah I really enjoyed earth when i saw them, a while ago in leeds. I agree theres alot of quite nice Drony/psychadelic music around these days, a friend of mine said he wished he lived in Portland!. I've liked grouper for a while, dragging a dear up a dead hill is another album I forget about! I think I over listened it last summer. Barn Owl's album

Yep Sun Araws great, I considered putting the split album he did with Preditor Vision in my list. If theres someone from that whole music scene thats gonna get a larger audience, it'll be Sun Araw. Theres so many great bands/artists on Not Not Fun at the moment, been enjoying Animal Totem by High Wolf recently, which is well worth checking out if you don't know it already.
yeah High Wolf are good, I've not listened to Animal Totem though i'll definatly look them up, im always open to good music suggestions! I see what you mean about Sun Araw, Pocahaunted are really the big name at the moment but I think Sun Araw really does have the superior sound!

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass

Oh, also, Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
    and
    Bruce Springsteen - Magic.

It isn't his best album but it's far better than the majority of the stuff produced this decade

True. I haven't listened to the Rising in ages, hence why I forgot it. I'll nominate them both
