    dude...can't you say to your dad that you can commute, I have the same Uni's down as you and I live in Darlington and not getting accomodation. It does work out much cheaper than accomodation and managable. Try to reason with your dad on this, though to be fair it has nothing to do with him whatever Uni you go to anyway.

    Yeah I can't believe more people haven't suggested taking a gap year - improving grades, raising money and what not.

    And I'm with you OP: having lived here for almost all my life, I certainly wouldn't want to continue doing so!

    Go to Northumbria...whatever it takes.
    Spend an couple of hours in traffic every morning and every night and use about £100+ worth of fuel a week? I'm not sure it's really environmentally friendly, economically viable, it also means no social life in newcastle and well no motivation to study because I'll be tired all the time. I thought about this but it's just not practical.
