This duo is getting bigger and bigger. It'll need to in order to compete with Elly Jackson's phat ginger quiff which everyone secretly wishes they could carry off.

Have you seen La Roux live? Small-time gigs? Big-time gigs? Looking forward to Reading/Leeds/her autumn UK tour? Have you met them?!

Thoughts on the album? Thoughts on their image?

I'm really finding it very hard to dislike any song they've done so far - even the notoriously overplayed 'In For The Kill' and now 'Bulletproof', which is in the danger zone for falling into a similar kind of fate.

But I think they're awesome :woo: keep doing your thang, La Roux! Elly Jackson is on fire!

Were good at iTunes Live on Saturday Night - but mainly when people knew what songs they were playing!

Are La Roux are duo? I was under the impression that La Roux is the stage name of Elly Jackson, and the man is her songwriting partner, rather than her band mate. Maybe it's just the way the media has chosen to portray them?

I thought this too. Isn't the album cover just her aswell?
Can anyone recommend any good songs apart from the two singles?

Quicksand and Tigerlily are both amazing. I suspect her whole album is, but I can't afford it.

I've heard the two popular singles and Quicksand which I think was her first release although it didn't gain much popularity. It's so much better than the other two though. :top:

Officially they're a duo - Elly always says in interviews that there would be no La Roux without other half Ben Langmaid. But obv she deals with the band's image and performance and one half of creating the music!

Good songs WOW... 'I'm Not Your Toy' is so catchy with a playful kinda tune, I think that's gonna be their next single. Also 'Cover My Eyes' is a slower, more emotional song - my friend and I always listen to that driving home at 3am from a night out. Mellowing!

And yeah I agree ha! Songs seem so much better when less commercialised...

Jeeeez, people buy the album! It's perfect for like any mood in the world! Not too heavy but no way empty either :yep:

I totally agree, I've had it pretty much on repeat since I bought it!

I haven't seen them live yet, but I'm going to their gig at Shepherds Bush Empire in their UK tour this November (the 25th, anyone else going?) which I'm really looking forward to. From what I've seen on youtube videos Elly looks great on stage, I don't see what some people are moaning about- she was basically skipping about all over the place at one point!

As for their image, I really like Elly's androgynous look & her fashion sense. Quite a few people seem to think she's really stuck up and stuff but from other interviews and some videos etc I've seen she seems quite nice and friendly actually. I've seen photos of fans who have met her on the facebook page and they all say she's really lovely, would love to meet her myself.

Ahh Shepherds Bush will be awesome! I wanted to go but I'm not around, though seen them live twice already! (at Southend in a 250 capacity venue and at the HMV forum in Camden :woo: was right at the front both times, so so lucky!) and we all thought she was amazing! I felt she was a bit shy in the smaller place though - people grabbed her arm at one point and tried to drag her into the crowd - but at HMV she was ameeezing, totally owned the stage with her dancing and well... the music was obv fantastic, she sounds so neat live! So yeah you'll have an awesome time and I'm jealous! TRY AND MEET HER!

But I agree - people say awful things about her but they're the ones afraid to be different and stand out a little; it's great to see such a refreshing image as Elly's in the music industry. And she pulls it off goddamn well

Although my friends have started to worry slightly. I've started to get into the whole crazy patterned leggings thang and they get embarrassed. Shame, eh?

You've seen them twice already? So jealous haha I've got tickets for the frontish area which is good! How would I go about meeting her? Just hanging about the stage door afterward? I may just do that, I don't care what my friends say- it's for my birthday they'll do what I want :p:

That's not too bad, maybe they just secretly want to pull off the leggings too! I must admit I've have had a few goes at trying the quiff  Though my hair is too short so I failed, my hair grows really fast so I'll try again later... I adore that huge necklace she wears all the time, I want one!

Haha, wow I'd love to have a go at the quiff too but my hair's too long and I'm too scared about cutting it all off I've always wanted to go proper redhead too but yunno, one step at a time :p: and ooooh that necklace is so nice! I think her one of her fashion designer friends made it for her or something. I've stalked watched way too much on youtube... Ah well I have nothing better to do so it's all good

And yeah I guess waiting outside the stage door is the thing to do! Your friends HAVE to let you because mine didn't and I sooo regret it! And that's cool it's for your birthday

Woohoo I love finding La Roux fans! A guy came into the pub I work at the other day and we had such a huge AMGLAROUX discussion; it was great  what's everyone's favourite song on the album?

I like them, but have to say their first song was a complete whine fest. Cringe-worthy at times.

    Bulletproof however - Tuuuuuuuuuune!!

Same! I only know one other friend of mine who is as big a fan as I am, ever since I lent her the album we go around singing Colourless Colour all the time. (Like at the top of our lungs as we were going up the Flume at Alton Towers haha)

Ooer I'm not sure about my favourite song, it's hard to choose! I think maybe Cover My Eyes and Tigerlily. Yours?

Haha Colourless Colour is SUCH a catchy song! And very apt for Alton Towers flumes hehe. I make sure that I endorse La Roux to all my friends on a regular basis, as well as making sure that they're on in my car whenever I happen to give lifts. It's working
